    I actually imagine Alchemist would be a tool-based job. They could use MP in conjunction with the tools to create an effect or temporary item.

    They could start off at level 1 with thier Mix ability and as they gain levels, they gain traits to create types of items, as they futz around with various items and tools, they "learn" a formula and it becomes a "spell" they can use, but only so long as they have the resources to do so.

    Were they given a scavange-like ability. they'd have the ability scare up some tools on the field. And if they subbed RNG, they could find some firesand to have fun with from time to time (explosives are fun, kids).

    Some of the elements already exist within the system. Tools are recognized for Ninjustu Spells and COR's Quick Draw. RNG has scavange. BLU's learn spells from viewing them, Alchemist could learn thier magic by experimenting with Mix.

    Assault has pretty much murdered the pre-Maat Alchemy market. Reraisers, Hi-pots, Hi-potion or Ether Tanks used to run a bit, now its just Vile Elixers, Icarus Wings and Sleep potions that cost a pretty penny, if that.

    At any rate, a tool based system that let you create item effects via spell or Temporary item would be the way around the crafting system.

      I suppose you're right about that. I was focusing too much on Tactics and not enough on Rikku.

      I'll get back to trying to figure out if there's any feasibility to Time Mage at all. Right now I'm thinking no.

        Chemist... who actually would be better off being named Medic to fit the theme of the war... could easily be given tons of Synths like "Hi-Potion" -> x33(66, 99 HQs) "Hi-Potion" tools. You do the same for plenty of other things.

          The idea BBQ has about Chemist sounds pretty feasible. I harken back to Gun Mage, sans FFX-2 to be honest tho.

          But a dedicated healer that could deal damage might work. I don't see Dancer being worthwhile though, because there probably wouldn't be nearly enough people to find the job interesting.

          People like clicking Auto-Attack. It takes a real anal person to take anything that requires micromanagement past level 50, where the exp grind becomes sharply increased.

            Gun Mage was Blue Mage in FFX-2. Alchemist was a job to itself there, too, both used guns.

            Dancer, like Geomancer, I can really only see happening if they two jobs meet some kind of hybrid as they did with Mog. Call it "Geodancer"

                They suggested that the jobs are learned by going into the past, in which case Dancer would make sense as a precursor to Bards. I'd really love to see a Dancer class, especially if we get an animated dance emote(s). Having the ability to dance the night away in the town square is the one way in which WoW beats this game.

                    People are saying things like "This job has only been in <insert FF games> so why would it be here?"

                    Take a look at Puppetmaster. Also, SE has brought a lot of things from previous FF games back to life on FFXI. So we don't know what to expect. Most likely Geomancer would be in here, but obviously I'm not sure. Countless people want it, but I wonder if they've actually sent the message to SE to request it.


                    Aaliyah is more than a woman and she graduated with a 4.0 GPA (she only had 1 "C" grade ever in her life).

                    I bolded and underlined the "is" just for you, Malacite.

                      Who says you'd have to use finalised medicine for chemist?

                      grab a fire card and some fire sand and throw off a bomb, grab some flower or two and some water, make a high pot.

                      It doesn't have to use the high lv pots or anything. let them make r/ex versions themselves. give them a throw potion skill like Alch in RO got and they would be quite cheap and powerfull.

                          Proper as in real FF jobs, not BS ones made up because they did not feel like working in the old ones.....
                          You do realize this is Final Fantasy Eleven, right? Not Final Fantasy Series MMO. We don't *have* to take everything from previous parts of the series. Heck, what FF hasn't changed the battle system or job system or something somewhat? If it was the same thing over and over, the series would be called megaman.

                          Can't wait to see what the "completely new areas" are. Hopefully we'll get to see epic battles like at Tavnazia, or Windurst... actually, come to think of it, besieged doesn't REALLY have much of a point.. it could easily have been a beta to see if a giant battle system could work.

                          This isn't helping.

                                they said beseiged was them wanting to make a good massive abttle system, not a test. but Hopefully SE have learned from their mistakes. I think lots of people and lots of monsters spread otu over a big map type beseiged is the best we're gonig to get from FFXI engine (hopefully DC9 will make beseiged run better too!)
