Titles

I've never really paid too close attention to what my title was. I guess I just assumed it was related to your mission rank, even though I've seem some really unique ones. But today I took a look at my profile and noticed it said something other than Mog Master this time. It said "Bastok welcoming committee". Now, first of all, I'm from Windurst. And second, I haven't done any missions or even little quest for the citizens there. The only thing I can think of that could have given me that title was the three or four hours I spent acting as a "guardian angel" for this one little taru. (pic)

So now I'm curious about how the title system works. But besides that, I also want to hear what some of your titles are and how you got those titles (or at least how you think you got them). Or maybe mention some titles you have seen that you liked or perhaps thought were humorous in some way.

Uh.. That wasn't really what I was asking for.. But thanks anyways.

Edit: And I guess I was wrong about not doing any quests. There is one I forget about. I guess nevermind about that thing I said about the taru...

Titles come from missions, quests and defeating some NMs.

At the moment I have the title "Gorganstone Sunderer" from killing Medusa.

Titles also come from making certain decisions in quests. I know in the Warp II Quest, if you suck up to Shantotto (She gives you a few comments that you get that little choice box for; for the last one you have to pick the choice "Yes, mommy." LOL) you get the title "Total Loser." I ran around with that for a few days with some fancy armor on just so I could make a few people laugh when they /checked me thinking "Whoa, that's some AWESOME looking armor she's got there!" (I was probably either wearing Dragoon or Summoner AF at the time, I believe; they're the two armor sets that catch the most attention when I wear them) I never got a response, but I probably made someone's day at some point XD

You can also get titles from spending Conquest Points, title varying by rank. Completing Artifact Armor plots will earn you the respective job's Paragon title (i.e. Paragon of Dragoon Excellence).

One could, in a sense, collect titles like some people collect the game's maps.

I might note that not ALL good titles come from hard feats. I know by completing the quest "A Timely Visit" in San d'Oria earned me the title "Obsidian Storm", which I liked a lot and thus kept for a LONG time. Some titles are dumb-sounding, others are stupid, some are funny, others are awesome, and some are even majestic. Otherwise, some titles are boring (Discerning Individual...so common...o.O)

I kind of liked the title I had until I realized how I got it. Now I don't think it's so great. Currently working on two other little quests, which kind of connect since I have everything I need for one quest except for one item, but I can't get that item right now since I'm doing a quest for that person too. I could check to see what titles I would get for those quests, but I don't know if I want to ruin the surprise (Not really expecting them to be that great anyways XD ).
