New and dont know what to do (please help)

I dont know ware to start at all..like I want to be a red mage just dont know what nation or race I should pic, that and a server so if you guys can give a noob some information I would really like that!

Edit: Also I dont know what my characters name should be, does it like depend on what race I am?
One more thing, whats the easiest way to make gil? I have read this forum, if I skipped over some stuff I am sorry, I cant really read very well....

You should name your character whatever you want. Choose a race and a face that you'll be ok with looking at for a very long time. Start wherever. It doesn't matter.

Nation doesn't matter. Same with race (except for some stats: check the FFXIclopedia for more information on that, but stats don't matter, as a lot of gear can more than make up for it... if you really need to have it). Servers are pretty much all the same, choose one and you'll probably find one or two people who can help you out.

Names don't matter. Just don't freaking be a xxxxSephirothxxxxx. You will be immediately despised.

Also, don't ask on how to make "good" gil... keep in mind many people worked hard, and have some nice little niches in the economy. I wouldn't ask anybody to give up that. Farm is what most people do, but I won't say what to farm or where to go. And, there are enough threads on it already -- read the forum again.

For choosing your race, nation, name, just take your time. There's no need to rush. And I personally wouldn't worry about how to make gil at this point. Oh, and I would suggest taking a look at the New Player Guild. Each chapter and each section within the chapters. It covers all the basics, or at least the things you should worry about when getting started.

Put a mask on? :/ There's nothing you can do to change it, so make sure that whichever one you pick, you're willing to live with it.

I dont know...I like all the races accept Galka...Taru look nice so do Mithra. But then again Humes and Elvaan look cool! :S

It can be hard to decide sometimes. If you're having trouble deciding from just looking at their appearance, it might be good to look deeper into the races. Go to this site and click on "Races" towards the bottom on the left side. It has a chart showing each race's attributes. This might be helpful. Like for example, in any RPG I have always favored Dex over Str. Looking at the chart, most races have average Dex, but the Mithra is higher. So that might be a good choice for me.

I think Taru Rdm has the best convert ratio?
That might be outdated and race really isn't a big deal in ffxi anyway.
You might not even like rdm when you play it, but it doesn't matter cause you can change your job whenever you want in your mog house.

Call yourself Mightyrod, go Galka to make it fit. Galka do that whole Native American AjectiveNoun naming thing.

Best way to make gil is to panhandle. Get paper cup and shout at passersby in bastok markets.

Well, you're not limited to just one job or even a few jobs... For the most part, you can freely switch between all jobs without any penalty.

You can select any name not already taken, as long as it's not offensive. If at a loss, you can have an auto-generated name. (I think--I always pick my own, so not sure.)

There really isn't any easy way. What you can do is to level all six Standard Jobs to Lv.7-10; the Gil you would get from selling all the drops from killing those monsters will help you buy some decent equipment and food you'd need; should be enough to get you to Lv.20 on one job, if you spend wisely.

At that point, you should know the game well enough to figure out how you can continue to fund your character.
