This isn't a matter of being young, or being a newbie, or not knowing better. It's a matter of being just plain ignorant. Look at his threads, he's made at least one thread for questions that had already been answered in another thread, and two for something he'd already asked. We asked him to stay to one thread, multiple times. We asked him to look things up, and gave him links to references, multiple times.

Nobody is asking him to just know these things, we're asking him to TRY not to be so rude, but he either don't get it or doesn't care.

Now some people may say I was born old, but even at 7 I wrote better and asked more intelligent questions than this fellow.

I'm sorry, but seriously, asking if there is game currency, how to plug in a keyboard, etc. Maybe it's just me but I can not fathom someone asking how to plug in a keyboard on a online forum. A post I might add, which must be written with a plugged in keyboard.

In the olde computer days for the computer illiterate (me) it was easy enough to use a trial and error method to figure out which plug goes where if you didn't want to read the manual. Nowadays, with all the color coded cords, and nice little pictures on the back of the machine, you know, keyboard symbol by the keyboard plug and so on, I would have to say that there can't be anyone who can't figure out how to plug in a keyboard, let alone get all the plugs in the right place.


That being said, while I understand the frustration that some of the posters are feeling, let's tone it down a little shall we? Jrgsubzero's reply was way over the top and honestly I'm surprised that TaskMage is just giving out a warning for it.

This isn't Gamefaqs, so let's tone it down a little, and this isn't Allakhazam, so enough with the picture spam like in Malacite's Blm and Tank thread, I do not appreciate a post that is nothing but spam simply because you don't agree with the poster and don't want to spend the time having a discussion as to just why you disagree with them.

I happen to feel bad for the guy, I really think he's just clueless. Clueless about computers, about games, and about forums. Some of the responses I've seen here have been terrible, and I'd admit it, I would cry if I read some of that shit directed at me. I'm more sensitive than most, it's true, but still. Some of the things that were said were hurtful.

That being said, I don't appreciate spamming of the board. I don't think he realized why that's annoying, though. It appears he has stopped posting, anyway. With a little friendly guidance he might have enjoyed FFXI, but I'm not sure he'd be interested anymore. And maybe the rest of you don't want anyone, newbie or not, to join FFXI and help the game grow, but I do. I love this game and I'd love to see more people enjoy it.

Heck, everyone needs their hand held sometimes. Some more than others. While I think his posting habits are horrible, I'm betting he's not as bad as many of us think him to be. I will use the term "clueless" once again.

I didn't respond to any of these threads until now, because people were being nasty, and I generally stay away. This place is neither fun nor informative when people become nasty to each other.

Exactly. We gave a very good effort to be nice to him. He threw that out the window and STILL continued to act like this. After a certain point, nice ends, and "GTFO AND STOP RUINING OUR COMMUNITY" begins. I sure know I'd rather have to scare off a few complete idiots than deal with the place getting overrun by them.

much thanks to Feba, I had observed many of his responses to the Op which is more than i did to help, So I can understand the frustration that he is pissing your advice up the wall.

I just wanted to post to highlight that we don't know who is on the recieving end of the keyboard. Many of our comunity are much loved for their no-nonsense straight to the point comments, But to an outsider it can be seen as mean and intimidating.

While I strongly sympathize with your frustration, hostile public posting filled with heated words against someone who has shown no hostility himself is not good for this site--Dreams should not be another Allakhazam.

Report violations to the moderators, whom I think most of us would trust to shut down troublesome users, once informed.

All the screaming and hollering contribute only negativity to the community, IMO.

I will remind all of our users to remain respectful of new users. Yes, I know it is aggravating sometimes to deal with people who don't know any better, but no one is forcing you to reply.

Please keep the tone respectful; if you cannot do so, then please refrain from replying at all and leave the question for someone else who can.
