I had an interesting conversation the other day with a friend of mine.
We started talking about an offline version of FFXI, and when I brought up that I'd model my party after people I actually know, he said that that was one of the reasons he enjoyed COP so much.
I asked him what he meant, and he started talking about how he felt like he actually had an FF party because of the personalities of the people he did it with. He mentioned that he would've liked to have me do it with his group, since they always had a sixth slot filled by a boring person (which he described as "the kind of person that only plays FFXI to kill HNM."), and would've rather had someone with personality, even if I would've spent most of the time bitching.
He went on to compare us to various FF characters based on personality, it was kind of funny.
So do you feel like you have a 'Party' when you do missions, or do you just go with whatever's there to clear it for the next rank? And what would your FFXI Party look like if SE made an offline version?
My FF Party:
(Names censored since I haven't talked to most of them in awhile):
Y*, DRK above friend, the calmest person, and the leader (main character)- compared himself to Vaan or Tidus (although he followed that with a big "><" >_>)
R*, SMN, I forget how my friend described him, but somewhat closed off and quiet, I'd personally compare him to Squall or Fran
L*, BLM, loud and obnoxious, my friend described him as "That annoying guy you only use for his Jobs/Stats, but still winds up saving your ass or doing something amazing every now and then".
M*, PLD, More serious, but still not afraid to make a joke every now and then. Probably closest to Cid.
Feba, I never really stuck with a job- probably DRG though, friend described me as 'the serious asshole, like Auron', although I'd personally say closer to 'the asshole who knows what to do', and put myself closer to Balthier.
