My girlfriend just got a PS3, and after hearing that it is possible to partition the PS3 and set it up for playing the PS2 version, I figured we should give it a shot. But I've been trying to find a copy of FFXI including all expansions, and not the HDD for the PS2. Does anyone know where I can find one? Also, a little bit of insight into the matter of formatting it for PS3 would be helpful.

Re: Where can I find FFXI vana'diel collection for ps2?
Yeah, as far as I know a collection hasn't been released for the PS2. Just the original version (which came with the hard drive), and the individual expansions, which are hard as heck to find these days.
You might have some luck on ebay, but even then probably not much.

Re: Where can I find FFXI vana'diel collection for ps2?
The above posters are indeed correct; There is not a Vana'Diel Collection pack for PS2.
In order to get everything you'd need, a purchase of the HDD (FFXI for PS2 isn't sold without it), Chains of Promathia, and Treasures of Aht Urghan is necesary.
PS2 versions of the game aren't that hard to find. ToA would probably be the easiest since it's not that old. CoP and HDD would be slightly more difficult though. You should try Amazon.com for copies, that's where I bought my emergency HDD from.
Be prepared to pay a little extra for the HDD as brand new models are hard to come by...A used model will be cheaper but I don't know if you would trust a used HDD or not.
EDIT: In order to get FFXI on your PS3, you'll have to download the PS2 system pack from the Playstation store (Free) and then after that, I believe you can install it with the discs.Last edited by Auron517; 06-21-2007, 09:50 PM.

Re: Where can I find FFXI vana'diel collection for ps2?
Ouch. $60 for TOAU expansion alone (via Amazon's 3rd party vendors). ><; But the harddrive and CoP expansions seem reasonably priced.
Amazon search results.

Re: Where can I find FFXI vana'diel collection for ps2?
well, considering a 400$ laptop will probably play FFXI (and a 400$ Desktop+20$ graphics card definitely will), I don't imagine there's much of a market out there for the PS2 stuff.
Let's compare.
PC:
400$ PC
20$ Off the shelf card, if it doesn't already have one.
20$ Collection
20-30$ for each expansion after WOTG
OR
PS2:
50-150$ (Note: I don't know how much the old fat PS2s are worth, I assume they're less than a slim PS2 since almost noone used the hard drive, ubt I wouldn't be surprised if someone was abusing the HDD needy too)
FFXI (Original Box, with HDD, when new. No idea how much they cost now, but I imagine one that still has reg codes is rare) 115$
COP & TAU (If you can find them) 30-60$+ each
PC collection anyway, because you probably can't find valid reg codes: 20$
Expansions afterward : Might not even happen.
Total cost: probably around 300-400$. I imagine you're wanting a new computer anyway, yeah?
Cheapest is probably a used 360 (100-200$) and the FFXI collection for that (20-30$, I still see these at Wal-Mart occasionally)

Re: Where can I find FFXI vana'diel collection for ps2?
ok I read the other posts...and I also read this 1up interview(awhile back) about Wings of the Goddess that seemed like the guy from SE was dropping hints that they might re-release the PS2 installs. Now I don't know if this is true(since no one came out and said as much) but for now you're just paying too much to track them down because(like everyone else said) there's no collection of them.Shadowneko's FFXI Newbie Guide 2009
