  • Regarding Buddy Keys and Trials.

Ok, from the looking in to things that I've done so far, Buddy Keys seem to be the only real way of getting a 'trial' into the game, similar to AO, only allowing access to the base game and no expanions.

    Firstly, is this correct?
Secondly, are there any other places out there with high traffic where one could search for a key?

Regarding the 'come back' campaigns, it seems a few folks have said that there should be one in the next month or two. Is that more guessing than anything or is there any real rumor to that ?

    Thanks.

Haven't played since 2003 and wanted to give it another go round and see what it was like. I am a CST player.

    1. Pretty much.

    2. Any other high traffic site is going to have just as many people looking for them as here. Honestly you're probably best off trying to get your old account reactivated, or dropping the $20-30 to get the Vana'diel Collection, and considering that a "low cost" trial.

    3. There's no fact to the Return to Vana'diel rumors. There's only players applying common sense. With the ability to change servers coming soon (did they add it in the patch? I only browsed over the notes.), it would make sense to launch a RtV campaign at the same time, so people can reactivate old accounts & move to a different server to be with friends, or just start somewhere else if all of their old game friends are gone.

Well, unlike AO's Fr00b program, FFXI Buddy pass is for only 30 days of play.

But you are correct in that you'll only get to see Vana'Diel without the expansions. You'll eventually have to buy the expansions,

I haven't heard anything about a Return to Vana'Diel program being scheduled anytime soon. Its just probably just a rumor because of the new expansion, Wings of the Goddess, people are hoping for another Return to Vana'Diel promotion.

If you really want to come back on your old account, have you called up SE support?

Yes. I called them a few months back regarding the account, and it was definitely nuked due to a certain time of inactivity. The account was the base game anyways, never had any expansions bought for it, as I don't really think there were any abck then. One may have just come out or someting. Regardless, the account was deleted, as stated, because it was inactive for so long. SE is the only company I have ever known to actually delete an account due to inactivity. Doesn't bother me, I understand the cost they are saving, but it still seems odd to me they do that

I dunno, I've quit playing for nearly a year before and didn't lose my account. I think they delete your whole account if you have an overdue fee for over 3 months.

Honsetly, this game is so cheap with all the expansion packs (20$) it's worth it just to go ahead and buy it all in one go.

No. I can confirm that I have had 2 accounts deletd due to inactivity. They certainly did not have any overdue fees for them as they were cancelled in the middle of the billing cycle.

In regarsd to the 'it's cheap' comment. Paying for something you won't enjoy is silly to me, which is why I was wanting to see how things were now.
