hi there, i just bought a new ps2, the little one, not the black one

so i was wondering if its able to put the hard disk i need for ffxi
or what i have to do, i got the money and the time so....
is it able or not to put the hard disk or i have to buy the big black one?

I don't believe you can hook the hard drive up to the slim PS2.

According to Wikipedia (not a 100% reliable source I realize, but still), it definitely doesn't.

I have both models of PS2, and a PS2 hard drive. You definitely cannot use the PS2 HDD (assuming you can even find one) with FFXI on the slim PS2.

Interesting note, though, is that you can use the PS2 discs to install FFXI onto a PS3 and make it work.

thin ps2 cant support a ps2 hdd but you can hook up an external hdd, and get the game to run Ill look for the link i found for my cousin.

I've seen that mod but it only works on version 1 of the thin PS2 because Sony left the IDE pinouts on the board. You do have to sauder a ribbon cable to all the IDE pinouts to make it work.

Not sure about USB but it'd be painfully slow...
