I think the previous return campaigns have coincided with expansion releases, probably to let old players get a taste of the new content and possibly resubscribe. I think it would be fair to guess that the next one will follow the release of Wings of the Goddess.

OK, so it's also safe to say that I won't be able to reactivate my account for another year then. Sigh ...
Thanks for your response Taskmage. Just thought I'd find an avenue to relieve my boredom ... running losing 3v3 arena matches get old pretty fast. lol
just try to call SE and see if they can get it back.
I believe if you try hard enough and if they person you speaking to willing to help alot, it may always be done.
I de-activated my account around ... was it August that was my last month? Last year. I'm not sure how long it is valid for, but I read somewhere that if after 3 months, the character is no longer in the registration (But S-E keeps it intact for 1 year in their database and then you can't call their helpline to retrieve it anymore)
But the problem is I had 2 accounts. The other account was also de-activated at least once and when I reactivated that in late 2005, an S-E representative told me that I can't do that again (Unless I do so during Return to Vana'Diel, which removes such restrictions)
Maybe I'm just confused or maybe S-E changed things around again.
I don't think SE has strict rules about how long they'll keep your data around, they just say 3 months so they can say they warned you if you come back after that longer than that and they've deleted your data.
I think the one time account reactivation rule is pretty hard and fast though.

Yeah that's the problem. I want my other account as well. Cause it had what was at the time of inflation (Holidays 2005) roughly 120 million gil worth of gear. Of course it's probably worth only a couple of million gils /shrug But my friends on Hades told me that gil is hard to comeby as a result of the deflated value of many big ticket items so having the gear already in hand would make life easier for me (I already put more than 450+ days of play time on those two accounts - does it look like I want to start from ZERO all over again? >.< )
i called in and they said they are planning one for this or next month.
I would call in again to verfiy but... one call of 5 min already ate my 5 buck long distance card.
