  • Because looking good is fun, even if isn't useful

What are some of your favorite FFXI "outfits"?

When I was in my mid to late 40s as WAR, I did the quest for Misery Staff. I noticed that while I was wearing Brigandine, an Iron Muskateer Armet, and had the Misery Staff out for auto-attack, I looked like a lacrosse player.

It's called Town gear, and one should never leave town with it still on.

I've always really liked the look of the low level doublet and gi sets. I dunno why that is. Possibly because it does as little as possible to distract from my adorable taru head, as opposed to the flashy errant and pimp gear I usually walk around in.

Yes, thank you for pointing out the purpose of this topic. Had you not posted that I would have assumed he meant to use that gear in combat. Assuming I ignored the title and initial post that is.

        ON TOPIC:

I do the same thing on every job I lvl. But seeing War and Thf are my mains, they're the ones with the most Town Gear.

At 60 War I usually stick to Hume RSE body, AF gloves/Feet, RK breeches, Bloodsword w/DS axe subbed if /nin. On thf I usually stick to AF Hands/Body/Legs and Tabin boots with Bloodyblade if not /nin or DS Kuhkri with Bloodyblade in my off while /nin. But in bad weather (snow/ice) I'll toss on a Black Cote 'cause AF bod don't cover much. And of course both outfits are rounded off by the same three items which never leave my Inventory, my Bastokan Ring, my republic Warp medal (from the first event it came from with 1 charge left) and my Bonecrafting Protective Specs.

There's nothin wrong with wanting to look good in this game after all

I loved how my full RDM AF looked on me until I started wearing Errant Houpelande (sp?), then I loved how that looks. Now that I have Duelist's Tights, I like wearing those with my Blue cotehardie to show them off.

Pimp hat never leaves my head.

I'm also a big fan of Seer's, I was sad when I leveled RDM to 29 and I couldn't wear it.

I like the Gi set because they look like comfy PJs, honestly.

I also like the doublet sets, no idea why, but it just makes me think of my little dragoon as kinda a nomad fisherman guy.

Oddly enough, I hate doublets on any race other than taru.

I enjoy DRG AF on just about anyone. It's honestly some of my favorite armor in the game. Sadly, I have never managed to acquire it for myself. One of these days, perhaps.

Maybe if you wouldn't change characters every six months.

What level is your DRG Murphie?

10? I think. DRG was the first job I ever wanted to level, and I've never gotten it above 30 on any of my characters. Everyone else always wanted me to be something else.

I personally like how paladins look in heavy, white armor:

I think a Dark Staff strapped to my back looks cool too.

This may be missing the point tho because the gear I wear looks good, imo, but it's actually useful because I party in it. /shrug

                        Hmm. . . .

As a Hume Male, my favorite outfit isn't really an outfit at all. If I'm not in battle, I'll remove all of my armor except for the following:

                        RSE glove
                        Bounding Boots
                        Walkure Mask
                        Glorious Sword

Running around in the buff is pretty liberating

                        Style Over Substance
                        /em wave hand across chest

/s This is not the sig you are looking for. . .

Murph, level DRG, using Jump as a Taru is the most fun you can have in FFXI.

                              EDIT: Legally.
