  • More Storage according to Level

Just a random suggestion to be ripped apart...

    Ok, so maxium storage space:

    Mog Safe: 80
    Mog Locker: 70
    Gobbie Bag: 60
    Total: 210

My RDM, plus all 4 subs, and man thats a lotta gear. Let alone other secondary jobs and their subs also.

I think SE should give us questable expansion add-on depending on how many jobs people have over a certain level. Maybe 2+ jobs over Level 60 = 10 spaces or soemthing. Each additional job over 60 = 10 more spaces, idk.

Average job over 50-60 has prolly (rough guesstimate)? 2-3 sets of gear swaps, some more than others. As the game is getting older, and more people are levelling multiple jobs to 75, its almost like you HAVE to get a mule (and thus pay extra) just to store equips.

    1. I dont think we should be penalised by having multiple jobs to have to buy extra mules (the principle of it)

    2. Maybe it will encourage more people to take jobs higher if inv space isnt such a pain? I know already, I am kinda put off by having more than 2 jobs at 75 for this fact. I HATE muling gear here there and everywhere.

I have no hard figures on this, just thought it was a reasonable idea that didnt unbalance the game. Im not counting furnishings either btw.

    Now tear it apart.

It's not a bad idea, but isn't the reason they gave for having the limits where they are due to a PS2 restriction?

They could always just add a few more gobbiebags.

Also, you forgot about storage: if you get all 8 Mannequins (and nothing else), that's -8 for safe, but +56 in storage, which is a sizable amount.

Don't forget Storage space. It maxes out at 80 slots. This could be done with 40 Water Jugs (for a net gain of 40 slots), or 20 Cabinets/Commodes (for a net gain of 60 slots), or 15 Armoires and a Mannequin (for a net gain of 64 slots). If you use the pay taru in Whitegate, you can still make good use of this extra space in spite of the fact that you can only access it in your home nation.

Space taken up by gear can potentially become less burdensome as you get multiple jobs up to the same level range. For example, I'm a level 75 WAR as well as a level 60 BST. Back when I was in the late 60s as WAR, I actually used a lot of the same gear between the two jobs. Since hitting the 70s, I've upgraded several gear slots for WAR, but kept the old gear for BST (upgrading Thick Breeches to Barone Cosciales, Victory Rings to Flame Rings, etc). One day, when I hit the 70s as BST, I will have more gear slots in common between the two again, and I'll end up with more space freed up as a result. You can see similar things happening between jobs like MNK/NIN/SAM, and between mage jobs. Someone who has both NIN and SAM at level 75 probably needs less space for gear than, say, someone who is level 75 NIN but level 25 SAM.

In other words, inventory space isn't a big barrier to leveling multiple jobs. If anything, limited space encourages players to level multiple jobs in a smart manner to maximize the use they get out of what they already have.

Storage Space - I can honestly say I have NEVER used it /blush what an idiot.

If its a limitation of certain platforms then tough luck really, but besides of having a reason for it, it'd be nice for a bit more storage, earnt in a way like gobbie bags, even for things like crafting materials etc.

And yes, I can see where you are coming from Lyon about jobs sharing equips. Didnt think of that.

How SE could fix the space problem forever:

          1. Mog Locker to 80 (seems like already in the works)

          2. Inventory Space to 70 or 80 (I know they can do it)

          3. Changes to Armor Storage NPCs:

          a. Remove or greatly lower the gil fee for getting back armor from Armor Storage NPCs

          b. Increase the gear sets that can be stored with Armor Storage NPCs to include practically every set in the game

          c. Allow full sets of HQ gear to be stored by Armor Storage NPCs

          4. Add a new "Locker" similar to the Mog Locker, which is based on how many jobs you have leveled. Gain 10 spaces for each set of AF(including coffer pieces) you have complete. This caps at 60 or 80. You'd need 6 to 8 jobs 60+ in order to fully benefit from it. This would solely benefit players who have many, many jobs leveled.

          5. Change Furnishings so that they no longer go into your Mog Safe/Bank. Make a separate entry for players to put their furnishings in. This would have an equal cap to your current Mog Safe cap and you no longer benefit gaining Storage Space after gaining 80 storage spaces. You will still be able to put more furnishings in, for nothing more than novelty.

This will allow people to pimp out their Mog Houses without losing valuable space.

If SE did all of the above, I can't imagine anyone having a major problem space ever again. Adding more things like "Drop" Medicine would be nice. And more quiver-able items for BST and ect.

Honestly, I don't know how (A) does anything, since the payment is only due on pickup, and the cost is already negligible (with 300 gil for basic armors - 2k due for relic armor)

            (B) would just be... no comment.

            (C) would be nice, but it falls in the same category as (B). Personally, the only thing I would like to see added to armor storage npcs are JSE's for all jobs, (SMN's JSE is there, but nobody else's are) and all the rare/ex sets for all jobs (AF and Relic, which is already there, but AF+1 and Relic+1) .

              Useful.

Have you forgotten we are dealing with a new SE here?

I'm sure anyone would say the same thing about a warp to Whitegate from starting towns and Chocobo renters at Altepa, Yhoat, and the Olduum Ring platform... but oh wait, they just did that today.

The whole fee on Armor Storage NPC does nothing to help with the deflation situation. It was put in there just to get people to lose more money back when there was a ton of inflation.

Re: More Storage according to Level

Remove the fee from the armor storage NPCs, and allow people to *rent* armor sets from them. Justify it as the armor you store being what they rent out, like a bank's savings accounts and loans.
