Well, given what the females look like, it's not terribly hard to imagine the males:

Tall, Buff, and a kick-ass mane around their necks! rawr! Graceful killing machines, that's what they should be.

I agree that they probably won't make new races, for the fact of the storyline, it just wouldn't work.

But I would love for them to expand the character customisation to include more face types, and hair styles and colours. Maybe it's just me being vain, but dammit I want longer hair!!

I don't think S.E. would want to deal with all the people that would freak out about how they don't want to quit their old character to start a new one with another race.

say the PS2 is already pushing its limits, and being able to change what shade of brown the mole on your Galka's left asscheek would send it into the grave (then again, I'd gouge my eyes out...)

the "barber shop" has been pointed out to s-e many times, i still think it would push ps2 over the edge unless s-e came out with something new for the ps2 (which wont happen), BUT if your not on ps2, there is this cool section http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/dat...rendering-294/ you can make your character look how ever you want.

I don't think they could add more races, not due to technical reasons, but storyline. Through out Zilart and CoP the origins of the races by the gods are revealed, and to add more would require working around the history of vanadiel up to this point.
I would like maybe customizable pets like varying colors of wyverns or something, but as far player races, I don't think they could add more.
Edit: It would also be unfair to players who have 5+ years into their characters to add more races with varying stats that would work better for thier class.

Not technically, there could be another expansion and another race far off somewhere we have never been. There is always a way to implement new things into a game.

Ok, then were did the new races come from? The 5 we currently have are the 5 tears of Altana. We fought our 5 vices incarnate in Divine Might. We battled for the salvation of Altana's children against Promethia.

They could add another race, but how would those races fit in during CoP missions? Each of the 5 races had to climb to a particular tower to receive the "light of x". X being holla, dem, mea, al tulia(sp?), and some other one I forgot. I suppose they could add more towers, but would essentially have to change the whole CoP and ZM expansions to work around the new species.

New races could arguably be added in an expansion, and I don't think we are limited by the PS2 since they have no problem added new mobs to the game. I just see it as highly unlikely that SE ever intended to create more races, and that they won't back-track on their previous expansions to work around the new races. Of course races could be added, another god's children, aliens, what ever you like.

They don't have to quit an existing character and start a new it's just an option they would have available.
I'm not sure if FFXI needs any new races introduced (I don't have objections to it either), but I would like to to see male mithra's released from their shackles in the breeding pit to become a playable race. They already are acknowledged to exist in the story line, but are kept hidden from view. Besides not all players like to go cross-gender with their character model.

Personally I've allways wanted to play as a moogle(Mog the moogle form FF6)...perhaps a head taller than a taru! It might fit into the FFXI storyline too...say you found a new race of Warrior moogles XD

Anyawy I don't think it's gonna happen but I've always wanted to run around as a 4ft tall(or taru sized) moogle since FFXI online was announced but sadly moogles were not umong the playable races....
