Took me only 5-10 minutes figuring out the Auction House.... on Japanese version. Can't be that bad >.> c'mon....

Quests in FFXI are the best i've seen in MMOs, but they're still mostly A->B things. At least here there's a reason and a plot instead of "The Bango Demons are Making Mine hard! Kill them and colelct 30 heads for a gold!"

FFXI quests are worthless. Go way out of your way to get some special item, bring it back an get a piece of armor you can buy for 100gil or a couple hundred gil. Quests in WoW were just as lame, but atleast you got something useful, or worth money to sell or disenchant. Not to mention a nice chunk of exp.

Doing quests doesn't always have to be about the rewards. Like someone said above, they have decent to pretty good story lines.

exactly. FFXI quests are more about storyline. Some do have good rewards though. Stop doing the quests you can solo at lv50 and you might see them.

This game is horrible.

I'm always torn between doing Besieged, solo'ing for skill up and exp, join parties to show off what my RDM could do, farm stuff for the nifty gears I've been drooling after, leveling my NPC fellow, finish up more quests, get my crafting higher, or join LS Assault efforts.

Not to mention, I have 12 jobs Lv.30+, and I like everyone of them! It's so hard to choose one to play! Then, there's my poor BST23 which I've been neglecting and bunch of nifty jobs like SMN and BLU which I've barely unlocked. >_<

Too many fun thing to do. It really is terrible, I tell you! <_<

..um, today being the 25th (where I am at) you ~could~ wait 1 week so that your 1st free month would be nearer to a whole month. Unless you ~can't~ stand waiting, lol

Your free month is always a free month. They pro-rate the month AFTER your 30 days free is up.

So starting on the 25th, you'd have free until the 23rd or 24th of the next month (31 or 30 day month), then the second month you would only be billed from the day after your trial ends until the end of the month. So your monthly fee would be divided by 30/31, then multiplied by the number of days you're paying for that month.

Been playing for 4 years now and I still can't decide what job I like best.


There are a few that could easily be the un-contested @1 & 2 (SMN and NIN) but well....

SMN still needs a lot of fundamental changes so that it actually gets to focus on summoning/keeping out avatars and not curing....


NIN is just too plain expensive and tank-oriented for me, /shrug. NIN/BLM looks like it'd be insanely fun at the higher levels (NIN/RNG too) but the money that goes into shuriken and tools..... dear god no.




My own little gripes aside, the worst you can do is buy the game, play it for 1 month and not like it. But chances are you will, as there's a great community, a very engaging story and a plethora of things to do at any given time.

The best way to do this is to make Avatars cheap enough to keep out, worth keeping out, and making their buffs worthwhile enough that you would replace the BRD and/or RDM with them, perhaps with a COR too. Basically, they need a refresh BP at the very least.

Quests are so much more than that. You get maps, you get money, you get storyline.

They are hardly worthless.
