  • Gamewatch interviews

Gamewatch has a couple of interviews with FFXI developers it seems. It's in Japanese I did a google translation and read through, it's hard to figure out exactly what they are saying but I figure some others might find the interviews interesting

    Re: Gamewatch interviews

Just a rough guess, but some of the answers probably translate to the following:
    - "We are already aware of that problem, and are currently considering possible solutions. Keep an eye out for future updates."
    - "We want the players to figure out the answer to this question on their own."
    - "We will not reveal the exact conditions for HQ synthesis results. It is up to players to discover this."

(most interviews with SE over FFXI seem to go over some of the same questions, and tend to illicit the same types of responses )

      Re: Gamewatch interviews

I looked through these earlier, I couldn't figure it all out but some of the answers were surprisingly candid. They talk a fair bit about the release of TOAU, what their aims were and the unintended effect of the older areas being largely abandoned and how they are trying to remedy that. Assaults and salvage, future plans, game balance, the PS3... all sorts of interesting stuff in there. Perhaps an appropriate question for the ask SE questions section would be, how come you never do stuff like this for the English speaking community?

          Re: Gamewatch interviews

It would be rather difficult to copy and paste in I used both Google Translate and then Babelfish to read through the interviews. Google stalls-out before the end of the page.

on the 1st page they talk about 5 year anniversery of FFXI and 1 year of ToAU, they also talk about WoW and how they do and don't consider it competition because their target was FF players. They rate their own performance, and talk aobut Chocobo breeding and racing.

on the 2nd page Ibelieve they talk about the adotion rate of ToAU by players and the % of it's completion. The talk about the monster area some.

Compilation: Lately, with "FF XI" most rare items keeping becoming, EX/RARE (trade/auction exhibition failure) it increases, but it probably is to be some kind of policy in regard to this?
Ogawa: As for the item of EX/RARE, because it is something which obstructs the transaction and the like with others who are the original good quality of MMO, we would like to insert truth excessively, being not to be, we do, but with problem of the after all illegitimate user, being to monopolize.
Tanaka: After all if it is something whose efficiency is good, the stripe uninformed and the illegitimate user enters a certain extent, to trade possible. For the person who has been needed truly that to try can insert in the hand, it is you make EX/RARE you do not obtain, don't you think? it is.

They go on to talk of job balance in the new jobs, they also talk of the Next FF MMO. They talk about cross platform development, Direct X 10, Vista and PS3.

Am I the only person who envisioned both of them wearing Shakespearean ruffles with one of them holding a skull in his hand?
