Help me find FFXI user who stole my identity & $3200!!

First, thanks for reading. Second, some WoW player got a hold of my paypal account and spent over $3200 on gold coins in WoW and like 10 million gil in FFXI. Unfortunately, I don't play these games, that is why I need your help. I know I am not supposed to post urls here but check the vid, then come back. Search digg or break for kause.


This guy has to pay. While paypal, my bank, and the police figure this out, I don't think this guy should enjoy one second either games. I respect what you guys do on these forums and I have a lot of friends who enjoy these games. I have posted this on other sites and have since realized that getting this guy banned/jailed is probably more rewarding than anything else. So if you guys know of anyone who can help, who I can contact, or any other sites maybe that I should post to let me know.

I guess first you'd have to post some proof that someone stole your account. Not calling you a liar or anything, I'm just naturally a skeptic.

Also, secondly, how exactly could we (FFXIO) help?

There is pretty much nothing we can do here to help you. There is nothing to go off of with info to even get an idea. The best source to try and find who stole your money would be PayPal, they track the IP addresses and if they are as astute as many other banks and such they should have a pretty clean database filtering out Proxy IPs.

So that would mean that PayPal likely has the person's actual IP, they should be able to trace back to the ISP that gave this person access to the Internet and from there the Police should be able to get permission in this case to get the person's information (Police only have permission to get private info from ISPs if it's vital to a case). Coordination between 3 groups should find out were the guy got access and possibly locate.

All 3 groups have nothing to do with us.

exactly. This sort of thing is just finger pointing. Very easy way to ruin an innocent player, so we'll need to see some proof.

The first step should obviously be to contact your CC company, but given the way you're handling this, I'd advise you let your parents take care of it.

Whoa, guys. I don't play these games and I made a youtube video showing the receipts and there is no way I would ring up over 3000 grand on like video games! I am asking if there are people in ffxi who can help, admins who can find him then ping him there or whatever.. thats probably too much but I have learned of this playonline place where I call and detail the item numbers so they can find where this took place.

I filed the police report and they said they will need affadavits from the manufacturer detailing how/where these transactions took place.

and if you find this guy in the game, mess him up for me too I guess.

I know you don't play the game which is why I stated, there isn't anything we can do here. Playonline is the offical board for FINAL FANTASY XI, and even then FINAL FANTASY XI has nothing to do with people purchasing gil in the game. In fact the act of purchasing gil in this game is against the games ToS. Those caught doing that are banished from the game by the game masters (People hired to take care of people breaking the ToS).

The ones providing this ability to buy gil is places like IGE which are actually doing something illegal in this game to begin with. That is why I stated if you are trying to take action you're going to have to start with PayPal.

Found the YouTube, yeah... Seems legit, guy he's after in game on FFXI looks to be on Carbuncle server and named 'Daison'. Though I don't see the $3,000.00 taken. Only number figure I could see was the guy spent $320.00 on FFXI Gil. Got to say, you look pretty pissed even though your keeping calm in your speech.

Thing I'll have to tell you, with FFXI there isn't much anyone can do to harm the guy if it's really him. FFXI has rules against MPK's which is about the only way a player can kill another player on FFXI. Worst you achieve is you maybe ruin his reputation in the game.

Very intresting because Kause sounds familiar to me, I'm going to have to refference this with my RL friends that play WoW. Be funny if one of them actually know the person.

MPK was a method of killing a player by using a mob's AoE. With the changes to the mob behavior and such though even this method is pretty unlikely to work if at all. So far from what I see it seems legit, even tracing here to see if maybe it's a known user on these boards. He looks to be 100% brand new poster with the intent of getting this guy back.

Only other thing I could think it to shred apart that guys video and see if any of it doesn't make sense.

To be more anal about it, MPK is Monster Player Kill. It's exploiting monster attacks and characteristics to harm/kill other players. There were quite a few ways to do it, but it was all bannable.

I just took apart the video and saw a couple things that are fishy.

I had a nice long post but stupid me put a something dot com on there and have to retype it -.-

Basically if you look at the FFXI receipt he shows as "proof" it shows he received a refund and it wasn't a charge. It does say "Status: Refunded"

You should contact Paypal and see what help they can provide. $3,000 stolen from your account should be brought up to real police imo.
