Re: Help me find FFXI user who stole my identity & $3200!!

posting my story was not the first thing I did. I reported to paypal, then my bank. Only after talking with message boards and one law student who has emailed me several times have I decided to contact the police. That was 2 days ago.

I realized after making the video that asking players to harass him is not a good idea, which I wrote in the last post. I just wanted to know who to contact at square or whatever and what to say to them. By the way, the perp used my paypal account i.e. he got my password somehow and I don't remember ever answering a paypal email prior to these events.

I respect your board but i think i am done here. Its more time than it is worth for you guys just to doubt me and say you can't help. Some of you have been able to offer some good info and I thank you for that.

Re: Help me find FFXI user who stole my identity & $3200!!

You had money (supposedly) taken from you and your first action is to register on webboards and ask if people who have nothing to do with the game(s) officially to do something stupid and you wonder why people don't trust you?
Well actually when someone has pissed me off before that is actually something I've done before. Uncontrolled rage has the habit of causing irrational behavior. Then on top of this if you've been on the Mods side you'd know that people have confused FFXIOnline.com as being FFXI's offical site.

The offical site is actually Playonline.com, from what killkause seems to be requesting now is he wants contact to reach those controlling the game. Number I could guess to send you to start with would be (858) 790-7529.

I know that we are more sceptical here, but real or not you guys can at least provide him with the info that makes sense. Info that he may not know if he doesn't play the game. We don't have to slander the characters name, but it isn't right to not provide info that could help the guy out.

Uh, phising emails always have very obvious signs of fakiness to them.

And no, I wouldn't say anyone could be tricked by them, unless they were drugged or incredibly sleepy.

I was gonna say that if you get an email that says you are paying for something that you didnt buy or that you need to update your paypal info the forward your email to spoof AT paypal dot com

I hope this is not too URL to post. ><

Lol, usually when I identify a phisher, I check the Message Header information (the extended version). Trace the Message back to the mail server that sent it, then I report abuse to the ISP it find.

Funny after doing that like 4 or 5 times all the phishing attempts have stopped coming to me.
