  • was our party in the best zone???

According to everywhere I've looked it up it says that a lvl 41 party should goto either Crawlers nest, Garlage Citadel, or Altep desert, but it seems like for those zones the exp per kill hasn't been that great(around 60-80 for IT+, and around 120 with a chain #4). I am wondering a couple of things:

    1) are the parties that I've been in camping in the right zones?
    2) would Beac. Glacer(forgot the whole spelling) be a better place to exp for a lvl 41 party?
    3) Should I be expecting kills at this lvl to give more than 50-100(even if they are IT+)?
u have to know when to hold them, know when to fold them

Only 60 to 80 exp for an IT+ with no chain? That doesn't sound right at all for level 41. What was the highest level in your party? For a 6 person party, I could see those numbers being the case if the highest member in your party was around level 43 or 44 (in which case, those ITs would have conned as high T or VT to the highest member in your pt).
If you had party members higher than you (I'm assuming you were the level 41), then you should be choosing a camp based on the highest level member in your party.

I don't think I've ever been in an exp pt out in Beaucedine.

Like I said, something is strange about these numbers. If there is a level gap between you and the highest member in the party, remember that his level will change the amount of exp you get per kill.

The general rule for the level gap is 3 levels between the lowest and highest person in the party. So if you were the lowest at 41 the highest member in the party should be 44 or lower.

Were you fighting IT mobs?? Was the party you were in looking to do high chains or did you ask??

You must've been fighting the wrong mobs. I was in a party 41-43 in Western Altepa Desert fighting beetles for 180XP a pop. I hope you're not fighting dhalmels ...

The 2 times in E. altep desert we were fighting IT+ gobs by the outpost. The 1st timeit was a 6 person lvl 41 party, The 2nd time it was a 5 person party(all but 1 member was 41--the other was lvl 43). The lvl difference wasn't a problem because for some of the mobs we were getting 150ish without a chain or ring, but then the same mobs would give us 50-75 at other times--it seemed to be random but more toward the 50-75 range). The time in crawlers nest we were fighting the tougher crawlers(not worker) with a 6 person party all level 40-41.

So I take it we are in the right zones then. I may try an experiment with the next party and try Beacudine glacier(at least it would be somewhere different)

Those gobs can be anywhere between level 45 and 49. So in your 6 man pt, you could have gotten anywhere between 105 and 192 exp per kill. And in your 5 man pt, you could have gotten anywhere between 55 and 166, minus a small penalty for you being below the highest level in the party.

It sounds like the experience you were talking about in the OP was from the 5 man pt, with the highest level being 43. Even though the gobs always conned VT to IT++ for you, they gave you exp as if they were T to low IT.

Don't get too caught up in measuring party efficiency by exp-per-kill. If you kill Ts, you'll get less exp per kill, but you can make up for it by killing mobs more quickly. Try to track how much exp you get per hour. If you get 3 to 4k per hour at that level range, that's pretty good.

Re: was our party in the best zone???

Guides are nice, but too subjective to follow blindly. You should decide whether or not the camp is appropriate according to your party and the mob's levels. Follow this EXP Table. As far as I know, it's still current. Ideally, you'll want the mobs you'll be targetting to span from VT to low IT in comparison to your highest party member's level. You can check mob levels at most sites - Mysterytour, Allakhazam, Somepage, etc. I find Mysterytour the easiest to use for that purpose.

Bear in mind that your level vs the mob's level has a big impact on attack, accuracy, and magic accuracy - more so than a few points in those stats can compensate for. In the ideal party everyone would be the same level, but of course, that doesn't happen in realistic parties. Try to keep the other party members as close to the highest party member as possible. In general, up to two levels less is fine, anything more and you're asking for that person to perform poorly. Even then, try to avoid putting yourself in a situation where your party members are 41 41 41 41 42 43, with the 41's being the melees.

The rest is up to your party's personal preferences, and party setups.

                I second that.

                My general rules of thumb:
                1. It's better if one player is 2+ levels below the rest of the party, rather than having one member be 2+ levels above the rest of the party.
                2. The tank should be one of the higher level members of the party.
