Almost everytime, at least once, while I'm walking around in West/East Ronfaure, I will hear this sound, almost like a huge door shutting, what is this?
Is it important at all, sorry if this is the wrong forum to have this in, I have no idea what it has to do with so I just posted it here.

When you hear that sound, it is the coming of the Omega Rarhab. He is occasionally unleashed upon the forest and offered Orc to appease him so he does not unleash his wrath upon the people of Sandoria.

Its better just to stay inside, lest he devour you as well.

I rarely play with sound on, but I know in east and west sar<tab> (areas by windy), fireworks just start going off at random times in the night. Probably just hearing the sounds of gates to Sandy opening and closing. But they don't mean anything that I know of.

Drill sounds randomly go off in Gusgen as well. Can't think of many off hand, but I'm sure there are other noises in the game that don't really mean anything other than to emulate an actual environment that you are in.

I'm never in east/west Ronfaure for more than a few minutes, so can't tell you what those noises are exactly. But I'm guessing gates to Sandy.

fireworks only go off during summerfest.


The siren in gusgen isn't really anything to do with the mining activities, it's more of a sign of the tragedy. it also marks when the NMs there spawn.

The door closing thing sounds like the orc WS one. The one that's like jump, but not. Slam Dunk I think.

LMAO, I play on Xbox 360. Whoever said its the gates I think thats probaly what it is. I'm surprised at how many of you play with no sound.

A lot of players get bored with the music FFXI has, and turn over to their own. Which I can kinda understand, but players should listen to FFXI music more often, it's a lot better than most people give it credit for.
