Occasionally I hear a message like trillian beeping, even when I set trillian to away... or even turn it off. Happens no matter what game i'm playing, sometimes it even happens when i'm on PS2, or even just cooking.

I've gotten used to it, I just tell myself i'm moderately insane, makes it much less worrysome...also pops up less often since I figured it out.

Lol, with network related glitches I've gotten to happen at work, I wouldn't be surprised about much happening of wierd events while online. I mean for example when I was running tasks and had my system call out APIs and OLEs, this was something I didn't expect to happen.

They were being sent to another computer next to me. The computer next to me was calling up an Excel shell and doing all the automation that I told the computer I was using to do. It was the freakiest thing, and I know it wasn't a halusination unless my department had the same one at the same time.

I think I know the sound that the OP is talking about. I found a place where I could trigger it at will - when I was Lv20ish (long long time ago) and levelling in Qufim in front of Delkfutt's Tower, if I moved the camera around in a certain way when standing in front of the tower wall it would trigger. It was really weird, and I still hear that sound every so often in my travels for no apparant reason.

If you actually read some of the posts youd have known they play on xbox.. Sheesh..

As for the sound i remember hearing it awhile back while trying to learn a blu spell. I didnt think anything of it. So i cant remember where i actually was. =/ I know sometimes when i try to change camera views, And it cant change due to an obstruction it makes a sound that might be similar to closing a door. But im not sure if thats when i heard it or not. or if its similar to what your saying =/

I dont listen to the FFXI music anymore. Most times then not i dont get the music to play, An when i did, it was always very brief. So now i have a bunch of alternative music playing. When i go to fight some super hard mob like Ancient Goobdue or something. Then i turn on the heavy stuff...

Nope, I don't have any other programs up when playing other than Firefox, and if I did then I would probably recognise the sounds from it. This sound definitely comes from FFXI but I still have no idea what it means/relates to.

Heh, way back when I was clueless I thought it had something to do with cermet structures ...
