Re: RMT fishers gonna leave? Yeah right...

I went to help out a friend in Qufim Island this morning, and I pity da foos who try and camp at the lake now. The Bounty Hunters are hella fast, and took down two party members before i could get off of my resting ass and Holy him. It had a fairly fast respawn rate, and I doubt that people will be able to efficiently party at that particular camp anymore, unless they can bring a high level to take care of said goblin.

I do think that's an ulterior motive. Players have complained for years about EXPing in Quifm or Valkurm when there have been viable options elsewhere. Hopefully this will encourage players to check out alternative zones that have been just as viable for YEARS.

Also seems like a nice discouragement toward players getting PLed in these zones. The gobs respawn and kill fast enough to where a high level mage couldn't cure people in time.

well... i can say that these gobs dont really help out when your trying to PT in Qufim Island....at the lake area...yknow where the middle is supposed to act as sanctuary, a hallowed ground, if you will, to protect low lvls from the undead...this simply is not the case anymore...seeing as how we have a new foe to be afraid of every 5 minutes...who knows no boundaries...and is pretty damn fast...and pretty damn tough....if infact it IS an RMT countermeasure...and is only a moderate inconvenience to a pt there...its still annoying when all the sudden this new guy pops up and aggros at the speed of light...and before you know it your tasting gobbie blade at a fairly speedy rate....i cant say much for the valkurm areas...as i have not been there since the update...but as of right now...i dont much care for this new little "friend" of ours...as if leveling in valkurm dunes / qufim island wasnt annoying enough...maybe im just pissed for it wiping my entire PT while we were trying to run away from the undead on that lil patch of water...that might be the stem of my bias...but hey...im allowed to do that ^^
I say its unnecessary...partly because i dont fish...nor care about fishing...bot = cheat in my book though...but still...GBH can go to hell...with his fast ass gobbie feet...ugh
        i think im done...

oh noes... you may need to get creative when you look for camps.

I can understand how people think its inconvenient. At the same time, I am damned happy knowing that I can suggest someplace other then Qufim to my pickup party now.

There's a whole world out there.

            SE can't win.

Re: RMT fishers gonna leave? Yeah right...

People have been weened on the idea that a place is only a camp if there's a zone line you can run to.

There are plenty of places to EXP. In fact, there are three zone outside of Jeuno to do so. People EXPed there before and if this change is a problem, people can EXP there again. There are a load of options outside of Valkurm too. There are options outside of crawlers Nest.

I actually loathe the zone line element, though I realize its there to allow us to have very detailed zones. Other MMOs have zones that are seamless and if you aggro, you aggro for quite some time before the mob loses interest and goes back home.

I think SE should rig it so mobs can follow you through zone lines, but I'm just sadistic like that, its how I'd program it.

No one really camp along the coast line in Qufim. At least not one without PL. I don't think these gobs will be any problem especially if the puller knows what s/he's doing.

you missed it Jei. one pops on the ice in the central lake where everyone 'has' to level.

Re: RMT fishers gonna leave? Yeah right...

The cliff at H-9 (on the left after you come out of the tunnel from Jeuno) has been popular every time I've been to Qufim, after the lake itself (which also has a bounty hunter now according to this thread). Granted, there's still the tower camps, the entrance tunnel and the canyon at H-6, but GBH's could have a pretty big effect on Qufim as an exp zone.

The main reason for the popularity of Qufim is its proximity to Jeuno; other camps can be just as good exp-wise, but getting the party to go there, or getting replacements when someone has to leave, can be a pain. A static or LS party can avoid those problems, though, which makes it really nice to have camp options that aren't crowded and aren't crabs. Maybe those options will now have a little more visibility to pickup parties, too.

Well, does the goblin bounty hunter spawn and stay on the ice?

If not, and he actually wanders around, I can see that being an issue.

If so, umm, what's the problem? Leave at night, come back in the morning, and you don't have to run onto the ice. It's what my exp parties have been doing for ages, find alternate mobs or take quick bathroom breaks during the night while the undead are out.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

it pops and more so RUNS then wanders, really...while all thats well and good...i was just starting to lvl in qufim...after the update...and firstly had no idea about this gob lol...then imagine my surprise when i came back from afk (while we were chillin on the ice to get away from the undead...wow no pun intended) that my entire pt had been wiped by a lovely little gobbie...
                            {this is where i stop responding to your quote and go off on a ramble...so dont look at this as an attack on you}

i suppose ill have to look into new places to xp...ones without coastlines?...does this not also affect legitimate fishermen? who dont necessarily have a high lvl job but would like to skill up fishing?...or do whatever it is that fishermen do on those coasts?...its a very blatant and obtuse course of action for SE to take imo...

you say that sarcastically as if i said that it was imperative and paramount that i level there...i am merely stating the inconvenience of GBH..excuse me for assuming that an area that I had been pting at , at those lvls, for years would still be a good place to go...only to find out that it has now been altered in away that makes it a bit harder to do so...yes there are other places to go...i know this...

and it doesnt so much as pop as it does come into existence and sprint towards a pt and murder them while they are killing a worm/crab/whatever...forgive me SE for botting that worm...or that clipper...or for trying to dodge the crazy ass undead...the thing is fast deadly and high level...not necessarily something i planned for when i built that pt...but i suppose ill have to adapt

If you're a legitimate fisherman and can't handle the level of mobs in the zone then you risk a lot fishing in open areas. Typically, you can fish up mobs that are a bit lower then the zone's mobs. Granted, if you pay attention to the messages, its pretty easy not to fish up mobs, but that risk is still there. However, rmt and botters typically got around this risk by how their bots were set up.

That wasn't directed specifically at you. There is a huge cookie cutter mentality for people to go level at the lake at 21-23. People have gotten so into the mold of exping there, that they typically refuse to consider other areas. One thing SE has shown us is that they appreciate creativity in their player base. Part of this may have been an unconscious attempt by SE to get people out of their rut and see the rest of the world.
