    Advertisements

    Will FFXI ever be advertised again? All you need is a few ads here and there and the population goes up a lot.

    Can't change the topic name >.< Can someone change it to "Will you ever advertise again?"

    Everquest and other MMOs don't advertise anymore either. I think SE should have done a campain when the Xbox360 edition was released to promote that version and the MMO itself...

      a lot of products and services eventually stop advertising, even though they are still silling it ... i thought it was something like the company thinks it doesnt' need to advertise anymore, and it's getting enough spread through word of mouth.

        Compared to a lot of other game companies, S-E doesn't really do a lot of heavy advertising, whether it be an MMO or traditional RPG. I personally haven't seen an ad (outside of online stuff) for FFXI since it launched waaaaaaaay back in the day. Even newer games like FFXII weren't advertised as much as WoW is, but as we all know comapring games advertising to WoW is a little unrealistic...WoW is the king of MMO's right now (8.5 million players strong) so they've obviously got the revenue to put out lots of adverts. The commercial featuring "Office Space" alone must have cost a pretty penny.

        I agree with you, though. I think S-E should do more advertising of FFXI to try to encoarage new players; coupled with a new Return To Vana'Diel campaign I think it would have an impact on members. The new updates to the signet system are definitely a step in the right direction, and I know quite a few people that are getting into FFXI a lot more than they used to because of it. Time will tell, I guess...

          Only FFXI ads I ever saw were for the 360 edition in a couple of game magazines, but nothing major...

          I agree, SE could make FFXI TV ads (even teasers for an upcoming expansion), not only would it create a lot of talk inside the community about what's coming, but it would also interest people who don't play, or only used to play.

            The last major update to the signet and "battle system adjustments" is grounds enough for some advertisement.

            Take a look at Lineage 2. Still a great game, but no advertisements.

            The simple fact is that if noone knows it exists then they won't try it.

            Just one ad alone would bring maybe 1000 people.
