What is going on here? The playerbase knows pol.exe is reading their applications. It's obvious connection problems are everywhere in various zones. I want to know why SE is denying this when we know what is happening, we see it before our very eyes. Why is this still being denied?

It would be a good idea to include the technical data that let those players determine what processes were performed by pol.exe to read running aplications.

That would give a lot of weight to your question.

just because POL is looking at launcher doesn't mean there's anything devious going on. Not to mention if SE lied about something like this that could put them into some very hot legal waters. WoW is already in deep enough with Warden, and they have made it very clear that is happening. SE hasn't been much of an evil empire yet, let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

P.S. there are all sorts of reasons a network could be down. Internet problems can be extremely difficult to diagnose. Has tried to compare someone who can't connect to someone who can, such as with Ping Plotter? For all we know, these people can't sign on because SE started IP banning RMT, it's best not to point fingers.

There's just one picture of POL looking at the person's process, just one. I have my doubts about it as well. The fact he keeps his Windower in the same folder as FFXI is a little strange as well.

Where did you get that from? I can't seem to find it on www.playonline.com.

          Edit:
Nevermind; I guess it's from Pikko of Allakhazam.

Oh Dak? I hadn't noticed that.

You know I honestly don't think any of my friends keep windower any place but on their desktop.

Yeah only one picture so far and people running around paranoid, making accusations and having no idea what it really does.

It may be looking for windower or just a tool for bored GMs to find nice porn sites, until we really, really, really know what it does, I'd stop ranting and acting paranoid

Even if it was scanning for windower or whatever, I wouldn't expect them to take any action on it until after they implement their own windowing.

Or maybe they want to figure out what plugins people use, how it wraps around POL and use that as a baseline for thier windower

Sounds like a very round-about way to get the information like that. It would make more sense for their developers to simply download a copy of windower and run it on their own test-bed machines to figure that out.

But like i stated, plugins. Probally to see whats the most common that are active on everyone. Another idea, they could seeing how much cpu and memory ffxi is taking up to figure out how to make it run smoother, make improvements to graphics and decrease lag from our end.

that is way WAY too stupid. You sound like a fanboy right now with all due repsect. First off, Square-Enix is big, they didn't get sued like Sony did. Second off, the tests you mentioned could be easily done on their side rather than ours. Now why the hell would they need to spy on us?

Have you ever beta tested any game? Do you ever recall any game having a execution sniffer? Or something that checked how well your performance was on your system? There's a reason why this doesn't happen. Beta testing in an uncontrolled enviroment would be like throwing chemicals together and not knowing what they are. The same applies for this. Now quit backing up SE.

I don't know if anything's up, and I could care less...JUST STOP WITH THE DISCONNECTS!!
