      Same for me.
      Can't get past the aquiring server info screen... for 2 days now.
      I guess it's going to be Monday or so when they actually fix the problem.

          For some people, it might be easy as just unplugging the router and let it cycle for a few minutes. Others will have to go into the settings to change some stuff.
          This still doesn't explain why I can log into S.Sandoria with my second character while others say they get R0 there. My main is stuck in Altepa, but Rabao was fine.

          that doesnt always work...

            People are getting DCed all over the place, different zones. I don't think resetting the IP would help.

              I think that's being a little to suspicious/cynical. ^_^;

              For any sizable software system, it is not uncommon for customers to encounter problems developers simply do not see on their machines and QA's couldn't reproduce in the labs. Complex networked systems are especially prone to this--especially when the vendor has no control over end-users' network configurations.

              If they are saying "We're not seeing any problem on our end," I'm inclined to believe them. (S-E did not seem to have posted a similar announcement in Japanese at http://www.playonline.com/ff11/info/info_top.shtml ; perhaps their customers in Japan customers are not seeing this issue?)

                They are. I have linkshell member who lives in Japan who can't log in to her main character, only her mule.

                    Actually, I was basing it on previous FFXI experience. ^^ During the last massive DDoS attacks, SE purposely didn't even mention them until much later when they were able to prevent them to a certain extent. I'm just wondering if the same thing isn't happening now, too. Companies may not want to mention "DDoS" for fear that copycat attacks will further compound the problem.

                    I wasn't trying to be paranoid, really.

                      You know, it seems like most of the people who can't get on only can't get on with their mains, not their mules, and it seems to be mostly in the Middlelands areas, not ToAU areas.

                      Maybe something's wrong with something SE uploaded in the last update that's causing people trouble, like, say, if you try logging out with Signet on, then logging back in.

                      Just a theory.

                        Re: Disconnects, anyone?

                        Just spent all evening trying to get out of Kazham. I got off the airship and DC'd. Then when I logged back in, I'd just DC again. What a waste of an evening and it doubly sucks if you only have a couple of hours a day to play (when kids go to bed). I spent all night stuck in no man's land!

                        Anyway, enough venting. The solution was to have a friend meet me at the dock. I then logged back in, did a "/sea all" real fast and invited him to party. He then tele'd me out of there (You don't see it until you DC again and log back in).

                        So those of you stuck in certain areas, have a WHM tele you out or a BLM warp2 you out.

                        This happened last night to two of my LS members. They're the ones who figured out the solution.

                          Unfortunately, I'm stuck in my Mog House at the moment. I figured I'd try to check my plants before they die, but I guess I'm screwed.

                          It isn't very often that I get a tree sapling growing - only when I farm them or grow them myself - and I sure as hell don't want this one to die.

                            Re: Disconnects, anyone?

                            Seems to be spread across several areas. I first experienced it in Den of Rancor, then later when heading to a LS event, I experienced it in Ro'maeve, my other functions were fine, I simply would get R0 in certain areas. However, as mentioned by Sierramoon, if you continue through each of these zones, and zone into a different zone, once you log back in, you should be able to move freely.

                            I see no pattern, between which area's are affected, seems to be different for everyone. This leads me to think, its possible that SE is right, and its nothing on their side.....but through various checks, nothing seems to be wrong on our side either...I'm not sure if this is possible, but somehow the information packets are getting lost/delayed in-between their servers and our computers. That would be the only logical explanation I could come up with...but then again, I'm no expert in these type of matters either.

                              That's a good point. It is possible, but if it is a DDoS attack, it is certainly not very good at denying service to the majority of people. Still, while I can see keeping quiet as a possibly ethical measure, telling users in writing "we can't find any problem" is quite a different matter... >_>;

                                Disconnects?? Can't even get in. On Day 3 of being unable to log into the characters. Very frustrating. Playing on PS2 - can play other games without troubles.
                                Was able to logon got update even got in and played!

                                Now when trying to logon get almost there - to "aquiring player data" then get Protocol error FFXI-3113

                                Anyone else with issues like this?
