Level 18...now what?

I just Ilsa up to 18 for the very first time....now what?

I have all my subjob items, I've just got to run to bastok for my crab apron...then I've got it...

but now what? I'm a few levels away from completing my 2-3 mission...quests are kind of few right now...can't do Chocobos yet.

I thought I'd try to get to Jenuo...but what else can I do now?

finish your subjob quest and go through the dunes all over again leveling your sub for your main.

I'd get to 20, switch to a level 1 job then try to run it to Jeuno. Do Chocobo quest, then ride back to Bastok and level a new job, subbing your level 20. If you actually like THF then I suggest you level WAR up to 18 at least, so your THF can level freely to 37 with a fully leveled sub. But it really depends on what job you plan to play as. If you're not sure, just get WAR to 15 and get THF to 30 then unlock a bunch of Advanced Jobs.

I've lvl'd a char a couple times.

What i do, regardless of job, is level 1-18/20 with main, unlock SJ(s), level SJ(s) to 17/18, THEN do choco quest after going to jeuno with fully leveled subs and set Home Point.

No point in going there with no sub.

Farm seeds, beechips, do some quests, buy new gear, do the chocobo quest in jeuno and level up.

You can try and organize an Eco-Warrior run. Might be pretty tough though, no one really does them anymore.
