You know what's funny, is when I was after Stubby I went about 7/10 or so on Vody. Since then I think I'm 0/10. I think I used my ferry karma up or something.

Yar I know, maybe it's just my hard-headedness, or just me being cheap, I dunno, but I prefer the Rare/Ex counterparts. To me, it shows that you went to more trouble to get it, you sat there and camped VE, or you just happened to get lucky. With the AH-able ones, however, anyone wearing it could have simply visited IGE for a few mins with their credit card, and there ya go, Emp Pin for you.

Either way, I'm stubborn and I'll keep trying cause...I want it. :D

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

        Re: nm drop rate

I don't think anyone would mind these rare/ex items not being 100% drop if they SPAWNED MORE OFTEN.

I mean, with Lizzy, she can take hours to spawn, or spawn twice in 15 minutes. If there were more of a restriction for how long she could take to spawn "i.e. she spawns AT LEAST every hour, half hour, etc., but may spawn more if lottery conditions are met." Hell, make it for that every spawn that ISN'T lizzy (or VE or whatever) make it increasingly likely for Lizzy to pop. And I completely agree that these 21-24 hour mobs that drop rare/ex items (or even funnier, items like Braveheart that see extremely limited use) should spawn more often.

Really, there are two options that can be taken. Decrease wait periods between pops, or increase droprates vastly (or even to 100%, although that would be a little too easy.)

          Re: nm drop rate

I like the ideas, but I have a similar idea with a different idea. Make NMs drops more often, but spawn at completly random times. That way you could eliminate most instances where there are 80 people in a zone.

This could pose a problem with botters that are there 24/7 but perhaps come up with an idea to counter those as well. Perhaps when things like Fafnir or Tiamet pop it opens with an AoE move that knocks everyone back across the zone. (no damage of course). I don't have the details worked out, perhaps I'll think more about it later.

This would be hard then for mobs that need an alliance to take out, so perhaps make an item that can act like "call ls". Some sort of quested item that you can get once per conquest period or something that allows you to pick 18 people from your LS to be warped to your location. Again this would cause a problem with players that are leveling low level jobs just getting warped to the NM spawn point.

I'm sure there are lots of flaw in my idea, but I think someone more familier with NM/HNM hunting could refine it.

I challenge anyone to tell me that the items I have bought for myself haven't been hard earned.

I feel as though they've raised the drop rate on emp and liz boots. I went out to the dunes to get my empress hairpin for leveling nin and thf, I got the first pop, claimed and dropped, all on the first mob and in the first five minutes of being in the dunes (I logged on and it popped). I was happy~

They have been. Gil is hard to come by and takes work regardless of how you do it. If you choose to farm and buy a drop then that's how you got it and there's nothing wrong with it. For me with a lot of items, I like getting the drop from the NM directly. I've never been big on farming and I enjoy the hunt when it comes to NMs. Then again, I'm wired a bit differently. I worked on one NM for six months off and on after all.

Sure, if someone is after a drop they could spend that time farming and buy it or something equivalent. Heck, it may even take less time. Will it be as much fun though? That's up to each player to decide for themselves. Taking either path doesn't make anyone any better or worse then anyone else.
