Re: How long does it take to find a group?

Well, I don't just stand around in my mog house. I skillup weapons, or craft, or fish, or something.

So the time doesn't bug me, really. I'm just saying that I don't get invites as often as you might think.

Me too, it's pretty rare for me to stay lfg for long (over an hour) unless I really didn't want to do anything except exp that day. I could do something else and leave my flag up but I'd have to drop whatever I'm doing then when/if an invite came my way, I don't want to so the flag comes down when I decide to do something else.

Lets see..on Cor less than 5 mins, on Rng (finishing up to 37) last time 1.5 hours. Really it's job/role dependant. If there's lots of DD's seeking I'll just go Bst

ps. I do remember lfg for 2-3hrs at a time on Drg, that's when I started fishing lol

Sad thing about my post is, I wasn't just speaking about Level 55+ in general. No matter what level I'm on, people will find excuses not to make a Skillchain when it is appropriate.

Making a TP Macro and waiting for your partner is suddenly "a waste of time" now that everyone is infected with this burn mentality.

^^ Well that just sucks. Usually in those kind of cases (usually with my RDM these days) I'll just watch and see if a skillchain pops out, and throw out a surprise burst. Not only does it do some great damage, but it surprises the hell out of the melees that - A. I knew how to burst in the first place (what self-respecting mage wouldn't?), B. I can do some surprisingly good damage on MB, and C. I knew which spell to cast with which chain. (Once again, why wouldn't I?)

This usually leads to a, "Hey, let's keep doing that one so the RDM can MB." Problem solved. Usually.

When the right jobs are not seeking, it can take a while. In my LS, we like to exp together whenever possible, but usually we can only get together 3/6 or 4/6 in the same lvl range, and sometimes we are missing a necessary job, like tank. So, we'll sit in Jeuno and chat while looking for the right job to pop. Lately it has taken 1-2+ hours to find the needed job each time we want to exp.

I would never try to form a pickup party without doing a /sea all inv #-# first and making sure there were adequate jobs available.

When I lfp on my own, the time spent waiting varies greatly. Even on mage jobs it can take forever sometimes. It seems my server is having an inundation of mages, and I will often be one of a half dozen mages lfp in the same lvl range. If it looks like I am going to be waiting for more than half an hour, and I don't have any tasks in game to do, I usually read a book. If my wait time goes up to about 3 hrs, I call it a day and find something else to.

Ya, last time I saw a skillchain/magic burst was when I leveled DRK, almost a year ago now. We had a BLM. A skillchain was set up not long after we started, I was the one hitting the MB, the BLM couldn't time it right most of the time. Why? Because they had almost never been in a party where he was asked to. Most parties I was in didn't even attempt to set up a skillchain.

So far, I have only leveled DRK to 37.

I try to do things that would still allow me to warp back to Whitegate and join a party ASAP. Otherwise, I just give up on exp for the day.

Re: How long does it take to find a group?

This sort of hits on an issue thats been bothering me since ToAU release. Making a party at lower levels seems much harder these days as there is not much of an unflux of new players. I barely saw ToAU advertised beyond Xbox360 release and I still dont see it advertised in the US like WoW was before Xmas. As a result I noticed when I started to level BLU that most of the players I saw seeking were players who were already 75 or players from the past year...

So I think these days putting a PT together at lower levels is more difficult than in the past.

I hate forming parties. However, recently my wife started bugging me that she wanted to do more things in game together, which means exping together if we have anything close. So... that means either finding a party that needs a blm and drg or making one. Thus, I find myself building them from time to time. It can take a couple hours but I usually mention that when I start to invite people. In the end its worth it though, I think the last three I made like that were three of the best parties I've ever had.

when I'm on Blu, seeking takes around 2-3 hours.

With my current main (Pld) it usually takes less than an hour and I'm usually not seeking. Since I have a static Whm I usually start my own parties. I always try to look for a Rdm and that's what takes the longest. If it takes too long then I will just round up whoever I can find.

Thf, fast as 5 mins, longest, 5 hours
Rdm, fast as logging in and forgetting to have /anon before i logged the previous night, longest, 3 hours
Whm; see rdm for fastest, thf for longest
Monk; oddly enough at times, see rdm
                                Nin; obivously see rdm
Drg; fastest, just changed to drg/whm and took /anon off to start soloing, got a desperate invite. (No one was lfp or wanted to party in the 37 range and party was @5, lol.) Longest, 2 hours.
