I want to farm ancient beastcoins, thats the most important thing atm. If we got 18 ppl eventually we would do Omega and Ultima but atm the items are in the spotlight. How many people would we actually need to successfully complete a run or get far enough to net 30+ coins before wiping? What jobs would be best for the least amount of people needed? Also any idea on the repop time for the NMs that drop the cards or are they always up?

    Thanks.

    Re: Limbus

NMs that drop the cards are always up. Often more than 1 per zone. I know on Sunday we found 2 at the same time.

With a solid group of 8-10, you should get close to, if not clear, most of the basic zones. Sometimes you will have to make item sacrifices for time chests, but Limbus is designed for small numbers. Nin tanks obviously work best, stick a whm, a bard or rdm, and a couple of solid melee, and you will do fine.

You will have to learn the zones, and what you want from them. If you are going for clear, you don't necessarily have to clear every mob on a floor before going up. If you are going for coins, obviously, the more mobs you clear (on certain floors), the more coins you get. Although the wiki isn't perfect, it's Limbus entries are pretty damn good.

Obviously, with small group, you aren't going to be able to kill all the 3 kings area, but you can certainly have a good go. Get to the top floor, and the Behemoths will drop some nice coinage.

Not necessarily. My 5 person manaburn party could take on just about every NM in NW Apollyon. (including King Behemoth) What it boils down to is the actual party setup.

          Re: Limbus

I was assuming it wouldn't be the manaburn set up, as having done both, that makes it a whole lot easier, and Aeolus doesn't have blm listed!

Manaburn can clear a whole lot in there, but sometimes it is more fun with a regular group - throwing blm at everything can be boring (and yes, I have 75 blm and have done both).

            Re: Limbus

For a "standard" setup, I'd suggest 5 people at a minimum, built like a normal XP party. Depending on which tower you do, you may need a WHM as the healer (for Stona). A sleeper is also a necessity. If you're just farming, a refresher isn't absolutely needed, but is always handy. Some zones require more specific set ups, or larger groups. Temenos West is a fairly easy one to farm in. If you're going for AF+1, you will need to do different zones as not all Temenos or Appollyon items drop in each zone.

              Re: Limbus

One thing I will say is know your mobs, know their weaknesses. Temenos West is HUGE fun (it is one of my favourite zones, apart from the slime floor), but unless you know to expect dream flower spamming mandies, it can take you by surprise. Apollyon SW (I think - the one with the Ghost Clot) relies on mobs being immune to certain damage, but weak to other types. A sleeper is vital, especially as a lot of time in Temenos if you open the vortex on the first mob, if you want to miss a floor, you can just head for the zone (sleeping the mobs on the way).

Mobs in Limbus, on the whole, are disgustingly weak to hit.

                  Re: Limbus

I do Limbus 2 times a week usually, once with my Linkshell and once on the weekend for coins. Our favorite coin farming areas are Apollyon NW and Apollyon NE.

With a bigger group (I would think 12+) you can go into NE and kill almost everything and when you get to the dhamels, you will wish that they made an area with unlimited dhamels just like that (at least that is what our DD say, they seem to be fun to kill).
                  NE can yield 60+ coins.

With a smaller group I would suggest Apollyon NW. I have a coin farming "static" and we do this area once a week, and we can usually get 7-8 coins each depending on luck. (I can't remember if Thf helps, but we have one in the static so I usually don't have to worry about that). Our set up is Pld (me), Thf, Whm, Rdm, Rng and sometimes a Blm. Usually it is just the first 5. The big thing about NW being easier for small groups to farm is that you don't have to kill the bosses to move up. This is how we do it: (note this works for us but might not work for everyone)

LONG POST SO SKIP THIS PART IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED.

First up, I would suggest everyone put Reraise on just in case. Also, DD have to take it easy sometimes, because getting killed tends to take longer to recover from than killing mobs a bit slower.

First Floor: We put on poison potions so we don't get slept. Kill ghosts until the vortex comes up and then pull Pluto. Everyone who can 2 hr should do it to make the fight go faster. Don't worry if this area or the Pluto fight seems to take a while. You can make up the time later. After Pluto is dead, open all time chests and gather around the recover chest and open. Then we run to vortex, sleeping anything that aggros.

Second Floor: We just try to kill all the Buffalo on this floor and skip the boss. We feel the 2 coins the Boss drops is not worth the risk or time it takes to kill him. Make sure you open all time chests, and recover if needed. (Don't forget that if you are not killing the boss, it is a good idea to use 2 hours on normal mobs to speed things up)

Third Floor: This is the floor you can make up time on. The Bugards will die really fast. We let our Rdm pull on this floor so we have a sleeping mob waiting right by us after we kill one. As a Paladin I will usually use DD gear on this floor. We skip Genbu Clone on this floor because it takes forever to kill and no coins from the treasure chest he drops. Again make sure you get all chests.

Fourth Floor: Wyverns can be pretty nasty and can dispel buffs, but they all drop 2 coins each everytime. We try to avoid the Faffy clone, as it hits really hard. We try to pull all of the wyverns to the starting point of the zone except the 2 near the vortex. When those are finished, we move along the west edge towards the vortex. I will voke one wyvern and flash the other and pop invincible. I will take them all the way past the vortex to insure that we will not get aggro from the Wyrm. One is slept and we kill them one at a time. Make sure you get all chests, and move up. (note: the Faffy clone can be slept)

Fifth Floor: Behemoths! If you have done well, you can have 25+ min when you get to this floor. Kill the 3(I think) regular ones and enjoy the loads of coins that drop. We have gotten 6 coins from each before, which is a glorious sight in the chat log... If we have the blm with us we will go after the "King". If not we just trade coins and zone out. (I have beaten the Boss with no Blm before, but not with that group. We had more people) If you fight the Boss, you will see that the room is set up for Kiting. Just have your kiter start running it around the circle, while building hate and kill it slowly. If hate shifts, it is imperative that people know to run. Meteor hurts and it will pretty much spam it. Keep it moving and you will have no problems.

                  Hope this helps

The FFXIclopedia is a pretty good (most of the entries are originally by Russta)
                      source of information about Limbus.

Most zones have a catch or gimmick that makes it unique, though rarely annoying.

I will say this about Omega and Ultima, since you seem to want to do them at some point. Omega gets pretty easy once you get a routine down after a run or two. Ultima on the other hand is full of surprises and semi-smart AI that can make it hard for any group.
