  • Items meant for levels higher than lv75 jobs.

So, I'm just browsing various random key words on FFXIAH.com. Anything that pops into head: final, mage's, knight, etc.

    Then suddenly I find this.

So now I'm wondering if the level cap will ever increase to use this.

Has anyone found any other findings alike/similar? Perhaps something entirely different?

Level 81, huh? It seems like it would be a typo but I guess anything is possible.

There are a ton of items like that in the .dat files. its believed that they store the items that way with a level above the cap until they're implemented. Some of them like Utsusemi: San and tier V elemental spells have been in there for a while now.

FFXIclopedia has a lot of items in the armor and weapon lists that are unimplemented items.

edit: after looking again, I noticed that Utsu San is tagged at 62

most of the weapons either have their level lowered or turn into a similar item with the same model at a lower level

            Sometime, type these in game.

            /recast "Utsusemi: San"
            /recast "Mage's Ballad III"
            /recast "Fire V"
            /recast "Bio V"
            /recast "Tractor II"
            /recast "Meteor"

It's kinda interesting. I tend to daydream about Tractor II... Moving live bodies, perhaps?

Yeah, there's plenty of things like those in the .dat files. Sometimes it's things they plan on implementing in the future. Allakhazam's auto-collection thing found Ultima Weapon in the .dats. It's a Lv.80 PLD-only Great Sword.

Also waaay back when FFXI was in beta, for the end of beta event the head GM, Sagesundi, appeared and soloed a ground HNM (can't remember which one) as a Lv81 DRK.

Adaman Armor used to be listed as Lv80 armor until they implemented it properly into the game.

I would love a level limit increase, but... to 80? Let's imagine it, every mage could convert. No thanks (i am a red mage so i'm jealous of my convert) lol

Convert's not a spell though. SE could make it only a main-job trait.

Increasing the Lv cap to 80 would break a lot of things. Nearly all the HNM/Mission activity has been created with a Lv75 cap in mind so increasing it to 80 would just make everything cake. Remember that the Ark Angels, final boss of Zilart etc were fights designed for Lv70s ... 5 levels may not seem like much but it makes things so much easier.

Also I'm fairly certain that SE have stated that the level limit will stay at 75 indefinitely.

There are tons of items in the .dats that have never been put into use in game. Off the top of my head the Zerstorer, lvl 1, quardra bladed Gaxe has been in the dats since day one but only used by an NPC who just stands there. Also there are entire zones and such in the dats that never seen the light of day either, i.e. the Gun Train thing that people so wish would be used.

Long story short, the cap is, and for a long time coming shall be, lvl 75.

The train thing was actually not a zone, it's an entire transportation network. Before SE decided to use airships, they were going to use a train. You can still see the tracks behind the Bastok Market AH if you look carefully.
