  • Again with the waiting from SE >_>

It's the end of the month and still no word on the next version update.

SE always posts something the month before, so does this mean they're off schedule again? e.g. update will be in march instead of February.

The programming and design world is rather amorphous. You shouldn't complain as this leads to poorer quality and lower amounts of content. It's actually quite a chore to do all of the stuff they do. I get this kind of stuff all the time from technical luddites who request more than is possible and make short deadlines for it. Leave the programming to the programmers and you'll be happier with what you get rather than being mildly disappointed every time they release an "on-time" update (according to whatever your perceived update schedule is, because I haven't seen any pre-release information of any kind and I don't think I've ever seen a release schedule).

Yea, programming is time consuming and difficult to go on a constant release date. I don't do as complex or advance what FFXI is, but I've spent a week and still counting debugging some variable issues with a java program i'm making for fun on the side.

seriously, you cant please anyone these days.

try to understand what it takes to release something.

you need time to develop then time to test the crap out of it. then test some more.
if you dont, you'll have more bugs and imbalances. which will have more people complaining about SE.

i think SE is pretty diligent about keeping new material flowing. so chill out and enjoy all the content there is already. i doubt most people have experienced everything in the game yet.

Nobody ever said that S-E had to release new content at set intervals. It's up to them when they do it, and they do it whenever they please. It doesn't have to be every few months, the release updates whenever they think there ought to be one.

About a few months after ToAU, at a convention of some sort, S-E revealed a proposed timeline of updates and introductions that spanned well into the new year, I think. Someone at the convention took a snapshot of the timeline, I wish I could find it.

My guess is that this delay means SE is dropping XI to work on the next gen MMOG.

If there is another expansion will it be as an update, or will it be something that will have to be purchased. Since I have the X-box 360 i got all 3 expansions when i bought the game(April 2006) and I don't remember any expansions since i bought the game. I know when the game was realised for computer the expansions each had to be bought, but i'm confused on how any future expansions will work(as far as having to pay for them--will I need a separate disk since the 3 expansions are all on the same disk?)

There won't be an expansion real soon - they haven't even finished releasing ToAU content.

It's just getting a bit old though. SE promised in that new year's blog they were going to get cracking on the updates. A small teaser would at least be nice. You know, something to look forward to as opposed to all the silence.

i think if we get any update soon its most likely just going to be more missions, we're due for the Bastok "ambassador" leg of the ToA Missions. And whatever Assaults take place at the latest staging point. I wouldn't be suprises id that was all February had.

I feel like ToA's plot is moving quite slow and I'm starting to suspect that ToA is just part of a larger storyarch like FFXI >> RoZ >> CoP was and will continue on into the next expansion.

You're probably right kitten. I'm really hoping there's some kind of new "final" mission that requires you to have beaten Apocalypse Nigh.

We still haven't seen Tenzen's homeland, nor have we gotten the new avatars SE promised with Aht Urhgan. There's *plenty* of stuff left for them to add this month, like a Salvage update, so I'm still hoping they'll give us at some kind of notice that every thing's on track soon.

I never said the game was boring. I said SE's constant delays with some things are getting tiresome. But then I'm also frustrated with delays on the whole so I guess I'm just venting here. @ _ @

Example; Retro Studios just pushed Metroid Prime 3 back another 4 months or something, as opposed to the previous spring release. At least Windows Vista is finally out, but then there's all those bugs with the PS3 and Sony's failed promises....

@ _ @ I'm a hopeful little glutton; I take all the "abuse" and just keep trucking on w/what I got, hoping that the big companies in charge will make good sooner or later. But sometimes you just gotta let that frustration out, ya know?
