Had this last night:

Puller somehow stood still long enough after pulling an Antican for it to cast Tornado, and i shotted him. Whm (just joined as a rep):

"Er, just thought so something i had to do"
Warp.

Didnt even bother to raise, lucky I had it.

Totally judged the whole party from 1 death and bailed. I was like WTF..

PL'ed a friend's party two nights ago in Garlaige Citadel. I made the WAR/NIN voke when the NIN/WAR's Utsusemi was down. >_>

That's the best way to do it, just because they have extra healing power doesn't mean they can forget about doing their job.

The PL is there only to cut downtime, enhance the party and avoid deaths as much as possible, not to play for them.

Also, PLing that way you can teach new or unexperienced players how to work in a party while providing them with a "safe enviorement" to learn.

Yes Qufim party last week with my sam, this being a warrior. The kid was playing on his brothers account it seems when he was questioned by the whm. He was 8.

Another one when in crawlers nest.

Nin complaining I was tanking and not him, usual nint anks better than PLd, blah blah (snore) I pointed out that he had beetle gear on and was using 2 Suzume's.
To which i got the response "what do you think i am, made of money?"
He kept provoking as soon as the mob arrived to take up his "tanking role" to which I just cure 2'd him got hate, flashed and kept hate until the mob died much to the whm's releif (as i can look after myself and not be a mp leach i.e. auto refresh, juice +RSE). exp was good, just the Nin was anoying and one that i have blisted.

In the 2 hours in that party after 40 minutes he ran out of shihei.

just fyi guys, darkages is sort of a semi-celeb here. a year or so back he crashed onto the ffxio scene and took us all by storm. so dont mind his spelling/grammar because that is the phenomenon that is darkages.

Actually, regarding that PL example... That party didn't have a healer. No WHM, RDM, or SMN. Just BRD/WHM and BLM/WHM, and the BLM apparently had misplaced his cure spells for the entire duration. They also had another PL, dual box controlled.

I was just there to help out and hang out. Well, mostly to hang out. And, to /poke the non-voking WAR/NIN into changing his ways. (Kinda funny how he then remembered he has Berserk, after I asked why doesn't he work with the NIN, and started to use it.)

To be honest, I can't be bothered to cure dumping on a party which I'm not in; I don't so much PL as to /poke and raise dead people. I did help out a lot by pointing out mobs around the blind corners for them to risk their lives on, though.

Since PLD is one of my main jobs, I get annoyed with tanks not provoking. When I see it happening, I would cure my friend(s) in party, but somehow fail to heal anyone else unless they are in deep red.

(Alright, I confess, I did haste the NIN. I remember how harsh those bats were on my own NIN--and that Galka was trying hard, tossing out enfeebs every battle and blinking on at least two different gear sets.)

The only advice I think I've ever pointedly given anyone was this little Warrior that came to a party I was hanging out with/talking to in the Dunes a few months back. See, I was on my way to... somewhere... and I came around the bend to see them struggling with a Goblin link, so I took care of it. I told them I didn't really like to PL in the Dunes, since it takes away alot of the learning curve the place entails, and also cramps the Healing Magic skill of new mages. They actually agreed with me, and I told them I would sit nearby in case of more links/goblins. After a while, they had to get a new Warrior, and I waved at him as he took his place. Imagine my shock when the Warrior pulls out a Carbuncle mid-fight. Oook. During some downtime with a couple of members afk, I sent him a tell asking him "Why /smn?"
War/Smn: "I'm trying a new thing."
Me: "Sweetie, I'm a summoner, I adore the job and you just might to, to be trying it. But we're both Elvaan and 1. Your War job does not help your MP. Neither does your race. I know, trust me. You don't have enough there to really make anything useful. 2. You'd serve your group better with /mnk, /nin, /thf depending on level and situation."
War/Smn: "Well I like it. Carby can heal me and poison the mobs."
Me: "Perhaps, but it's not really ..ideal, especially subbed to a melee job and *especially* at a level where your MP might be all of 30."

..I don't think he ever listened to me. :/ One of the party members was leader of a LS and passed me a pearl at one point. I asked them what they thought of Mr. War/Smn and they all expressed utter confusion as to his job choice. I told them I'd tried to convince him to go change subs, but I'm starting to wonder if the kid even had any of those subs levelled up.

Thing I most hated hearing in a party was back in the Dunes when I was 12smn/6 whm.

(sublesswarptleader): We're doing Pugs. You're main heal.
Telera: ...At level 12. May I remind you my whm sub is 6 because it's just that, a sub. I have no problem healing, but against pugs, I can assure you with our level and your gear as tank, I won't be able to keep up.
(subleswarptleader): That's ok, I have PL.

..said PL was perpetually afk and only level 27whm/13blm. And yes, we died twice before he got the picture that I could spam Cure back to back and he still took more damage than I could fix up.

To Telera's last post. /blm, makes dunes go way faster Seriously though, I only lvled smn/blm because I expected and had gotten pties like that until the 30s for smn @.@; Honestly, the sub doesn't make you main heal, and people should learn that as soon as they get their subjob @.@;
Also <.< >.>; I don't ask main/sub combos(and their role in the pty) of people unless I've done it myself for exp party =x

Haha, well, I'm far beyond the dunes now. My blm would have worked fine, having been levelled for whm, but I had thought it was something done more by 'higher up' summoners at the time, and I preferred having some healing capability. I actually enjoy it, it's never bothered me as it seems to do some others. And I didn't mind being heal for that particular group, it was just he thought we should take on Pugs and having only Cure I at my disposal when that fish did Screwdriver = me taking all the hate = me becoming a summoner meat shield. Except... those don't work well. ;_; We make poor meat shields.

If his PL had been... oh, I dunno... there, it might have worked. But she wasn't, and I kept telling him they were a bit out of our range for our level. His response was "But a friend told me they were good exp!"

Kinda off topic, but this reminded me of a pt I once had. Drk, Blm, Rdm in the PT and I was a thf/war pulling ants. I shot a Blm and ran back to camp. So I'm sitting behind the camp as the ant is casting and the PT is waiting for him to walk over. Then I noticed the Ant was casting Tornado. I politely, in /pchat asked someone to stun the ant, silence the ant, do anything to the ant to stop it's 5 minute casting of this AM. No one did anything, I got hit with AM, ant finally walked to the pt and we killed it. If it weren't for the Smn using Stoneskin-ga I woulda been one fried thf. >_>

Anyway, things you don't wanna hear:

Puller: "I didn't know XXX mob aggroed" (i'm guilty of this myself)
Lvl 55 PT leader in kuftal: "It's ok, we have a pl"
Sam, Thf, Drg, Blm PT: "lol SC suck"
Nin to a Thf/war at the start of a pt: "Can I borrow some Shihei?"
Melee Rdm who stands behind mob with thf in the PT: "Why you SaTa me?" (that one was fun >.>)
Blm/Rdm/Brd 50+ Pt with a link: "Escape!"

I'm sure there's more, but I block a lot of this stuff out in my head.
