Have to agree with everyone who said about the flavour macros, hate them. Summoners seem to be the worst for “COME mighty Shiva, beauteous heart of ice! I beg thee, destroy this foul demon before us!’ type macros. Party yesterday had a puller whose macro spammed “Where do you think you’re going!” about 6-8 times in party chat on every single pull, that was annoying.

The other thing I never ever want to see when I join a party and pull up the member list is:

    ZephirothIII

I am simply offering the possibility that not EVERYONE knows about certain things, whether it be of ignorance or simply being out of the loop. Certainly it's more likely ignorance than not, but there is the possibility.

Seconded. Don't get pissed off is someone doesn't know about something, or doesn't have a spell. HELP THEM OUT, DON'T HAVE A BITCH ABOUT IT.

Suggest that they take a break from exp-ing and help them get that scroll/crystal/whatever, tell them what a certain item is, and how to get it...

If someone doesn't have a more reasonable idea of gameplay mechanics, suggest to them a better party/job/equipment model, don't just hit that disband button. Are they leveling a job you're familiar with and doing something that may seem wrong to you? Share your experience with them. If they're keen on taking it to 75, they'll listen to you and take it in!

Getting EXP is NOT A RACE. Help someone out. Edumacate thems. Community should be the strongest point of FFXI. After all, that's what the game play philosophy is modeled on.

There should be balance; a WHM with no support job in Valkrum Dunes doesn't have Barfira and Bawatera? I'd be glad to explain why they are important.

By the time a WHM is fighting Magmatic Eruca at Mount Zhayolm, though, not having Barfira should be an automatic dismissal.

Parade Gorget is new enough that I think it's okay to let it slide. It's not exactly useful for every situation, either. (I have RDM and BRD in my static party, so I haven't bothered to get a Parade Gorget just yet, though I did buy the Goblin Drinks already.)

I'm in a party right NOW with one of these SMN... "Back to your slumber! Release"

He was just skilling up on his Summon Magic while waiting for the last party member.

          /sigh

Gah, he just used Fenrir... "Wold of the dark moon, lend me your strength!"

Keeping in mind, that new players can't get a subjob until they're about to graduate from the dunes. And even then, you still need someone to help you out with the Bogy/Ghoul items. Who can they ask? Most haven't even joined a Linkshell yet!

Those Bar-scrolls are only sold in Jeuno. I couldn't get to Jeuno until I was lvl 22, when someone helped escort me. The prices, for a new player, can be quite daunting. Remember, these are people who are buying fresh equipment, with fast leveling from 1-20. They're also expected, by higher-level/experienced players to have all their spells and near perfect gear, otherwise they're worthless in their "perfect" parties. ("Still wearing Bronze gear? OMG GTFO!")

My linkshell were really kind ._. An ex-member would be on her way back from fishing and raise me when I had a failed attempt of running back to Windy from Mhaura. People who took the time out to help people really helped me enjoy the game, much more than the alternative of hopelessly sitting around with a (Mission 3-1) (Windurst) (Please Assist.).

The second was in Yutunga Jungle and I said the same thing, that's when the pt leader booted me. Needless to say his pt disbanded after that and formed a pt with me and we got another bst friend of mine to PL us till we could get our own healer (which took like 30 min for a healer to start searching)

Lfp as rdm/war with seacom stating "main heal! no thanks, SJ: anything, red mage shield OK" (note out of 5 parties since hitting 60, 2 i got to tank ^^ )
Now >_>; with that /seacom i got an invite, join in and then i looked at the pty setup....yea, only mage....
A party the previous day, pty lead >> "main heal if we get a bard?" me>>"/seacom please check it, goodbye"
                I've tried main healing on rdm before, but in times were i had refresh cycles of 2-3 other members hard to keep up mp and keep pty alive, debuffs and getting spammed with "haste please" Yea >_>; main heal, i'll go merit whm for that. It's people not reading or choosing to ignore your /seacoms that really get to me @_@;

When you're building a PT, I'm not joining to babysit you, I'm joining to EXP. When you've shown me that you are more interested in EXP than improving your job with essential spells or gear, I don't have to stay in your PT.

When you've shown me you have no bloody clue how to build a party around your job (like BLU, DRK or PLD), I am again entitled to disband as I please. I don't give a damn if it breaks the PT, either. Better they all find a new one than struggle for subpar EXP in the one they've built.

If they have decent gear, play the job well and can build a good PT, then I'll give them some pointers on NMs and other gear, but I can't help everyone. I'd never get anything done in this game if I had to correct or instruct the legion of lolBRDs on my server.

I meant that I would be understanding if new players at Dunes level may be missing one or two important spell or equipment, not that I'd jump all over all them.

And, I've volunteered to help newbies get their support job quest items, as well as escort them to Jeuno.

You're preaching "kinder and gentler to newbies" to the wrong person.

                    * * *

All the same, at they get higher in levels, newbies cannot expect the kid glove treatment to continue.

For example, BRD and RDM without Finale and Dispel the moment their level allows it is gimped and gets a thumbs down from me, especially since they are most likely fighting crawlers at those levels spamming the very nasty Cocoon.

So... your position is that if there is no RDM seeking (which is usually the case), PLD, DRK and BLU should not attempt to form or join parties at all? Trying to overcome the difficulties of working with a BRD or COR instead is just morally wrong?

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Obviously the position I just outlined is absurd, but at the same time, it looks like it actually *is* your position and not a strawman.

Er... not exactly what I was saying.

People think they can just invite a refresh class and they're covered. Not so. That may help you win the day with RDM in most cases, but load a PT up with all MP users and you've given that RDM an unbearable headache to deal with. For additional pain, insert the haste cycle and regen. Goodbye MP.

Same thing with COR or BRD, that set up is a bloody headache because these jobs actively DO NOT position themselves no matter how many times you ask nicely or even bark at them to do so. Any instance where they do is rare.

Also, consider that both BLU and THF get some degree of benefit from subbing THF which means they always have to be running back and forth around the mob. Additionaly, where AoE mobs are concerned, its the duty of the PLD to keep the mages safe by keeping the mob away from there. There's a reason behind the annoyance, but it should be situational. Yet these very jobs act like that situation is always active, especially PLD.

If you're not going to bring juice materials, if you're not going to get sanction refresh or refresh gear and if you're not going to line up for Ballad or Evoker's Roll its simply not worth a COR or BRD's time to deal with you.

I shouldn't have to halfass my buff cycle down to a three buff rotation just to hit you with refresh, its not fair to whatever other melee and mage you invited.

Everyone can be part of the efficacy equation. In all my levels of BLM and even RDM, I packed juice before refresh was at any jobs disposal, if I had a BRD or COR in my PT when I'm BLU, I'm going to keep bringing juice materials and whatever +hMP gear I can use to play it effectively and still get other buffs. Best PLDs I've ever PTed with also do this, hell, they make sure they have Spirit Taker by the proper level too.

DRK is much more low maitenence and easier to deal with, they can just drop by for the occasional Refresh AoE. Sanction Refresh and P Gorget by themselves are almost enough for them.

Being efficient is not RDM, BRD or COR's sole domain, but everyone wants to think they are. Everyone in a PT who can make things flow faster should be willing and able to do so rather than "I just want EXP." If you're not willing to make that effort, why am I spending my time and resources on you? This game isn't a free ride.

QFT. In fact, stop putting /p lines in your provoke macro. It says in the chat box when you do it, and it makes a big loud noise and flashing lights. And if it was REALLY important to anyone that you just provoked, they would know because the mob would stop running towards their black mage throat and start running back at you.
