Re: Things you don't want to hear when you're invited to a PT.

<call1> <call2> or <call3> in any macro just kills me... the funny thing is I used them in a lot of macros in my first couple months playing. I jumped on my ps2 and did a dynamis a month or two ago and all of those old macros were still there.

one picky thing with DRGs... don't use a /party macro for jump. no one cares. it has no bearing on hate and frankly, we don't want to see it every time you use it. (yes, I did this one too for a bit).

as far as the roleplay macros... I can stand them on occasional things... but if you're going to be a dork and use them, at least spell stuff correctly. I had a DRG that had 'come to me my goffy little friend' as his Call Wyvern macro. That's right, he misspelled 'goofy'. We asked him about it but he never changed it. Then again, the little gear he had was all 10 or 11 levels underlevelled anyway, so go figure.

      >_> "Utsusemi down" is for dual tanking on Utsusemi: Ichi, with a partner who is not counting your shadow or alternating provoke with you.

It means, "It's your turn to provoke, or did you forget we're dual tanking?!"

I dunno what's scarier, the amount of irony that went unnoticed till Taodyn pointed it out, or the fact that I didn't notice Taodyn was a Mod before.

The thing I don't wanna hear:

Leader invites you to join an XP party without saying anything about something else.

<Leader> (Hello!) We are going to help this guy kill his NM really fast before going to XP.
        <Me>(Where?)
<Leader> <insert name of a place that takes an hour to get to, like the Savage Blade NM>
<Me>(Thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass.) /disband

It's not that I wouldn't help, but the fact that they want to trick you into helping is what really pisses me off.

When ever I dual tanked I would voke the second I saw the other nins shadows go down. Often times I'd have the hate as they spammed their 'Utsu down' macros, which was highly annoying.

...especially when you consider that half the time they never got hate back anyway

I haven't been in a dual nin party since the big nin rush over a year ago, but I still see those macros. Well, wait .. I was in two, as a nin each time, and I knew the other nin. We either counted shadows or voked if we saw blood.

I had my own "utsusemi down" macro for a while, but only one other time on the way to 37 did I get a party with another melee who was bright enough to take hate off me when I lost shadows too fast. That person didn't need me to use the macro and using the macro in any other party wasn't enough to get the help I wanted so I just said screw it and took responsibility for my own ass. On the other hand, I've met far too many nins who's "utsusemi down" macro means "I don't know how to play my job and I'm going to blame anyone by myself if I fail."

Ohhh my god. This happened to me the other night. I joined a "subligar party" and ended up tanking the minotaur for a bunch of retards and then watching them wipe to Tres Duendes.

Re: Things you don't want to hear when you're invited to a PT.

In general I hate any /p macro type. I found the provoke macros okay early on as a whm, so I knew if I could be saved after throwing a Cure2 or something, keeping an eye on my hate line, but I think I've seen the same macros in my dynamis LS. With cure5 and -20 enimty I'm not going to take hate, ever.

I get annoyed with not only the "voke ready in 10 seconds" macros, but also the "Utsusemi:ichi Ready" and the "Fenrir <call>" and "Release Fenrir <call>" and the "Mind if I jump in?" macros. I did for a while find the "Casting Utsusemi" helpful so that I knew when to flash, but honestly I would be much better off reading the log than having it cluttered with /p macros.

what? if ur partner is not counting your shadow or alternating provoke with you... how is that dual tanking on utsu: ichi? ....

i know what it means. you got to be kidding me if you think i dont know what it means.

and still, its not necessary. its not terribly hard to provoke after 3 absorbed hits, and if ur filters are turned on, ok fine. provoke on the first successful hit. getting hit once isnt a big deal.

i liked how taskmage put it (so much that i quoted him 3 times):

P.S. Learn to time utsusemi, noob. If I can get stoneskin up while getting beat on you can force through a spell that takes half as long to cast. It's not that hard if you keep your head and watch the mob's attacks intead of jamming on your "halp meh" macro.

when you have someone spamming UTSU DOWN PROVOKE !!!!!!! every 10 seconds its highly irritating.

this doenst just happen pre-37. it happens after 37 too. they ask for stun or flash when they are using ichi. it just means theyre lazy. they dont want to time their ichi properly so they ask for help.

Same thing happened to be the other day. This SMN invited me to a Party in Qufim... it started off on a bad note... with only 5 of us, he decided to pull a crab when I was kneeling for MP. I was not AT my desk when he did... I hear sound effects of someone getting hit... it was me. I had to zone into the tower. I barely lived with like 10-20 HP. I come back and ask why he didn't give a warning. He said he did...

                      "Carbuncle of the heavens... Assault!"

That's hardly a warning in my opinion. I told him he should have asked the party first if it was ok. He proceeds to say, "It's ok.. Fenrir could have killed it fast. He's better than you."

I was so close to disbanding. I should have, because this happened later...

                      The SMN is Cobion...

I had to add him to my /blist.

A meaningless acronym which most often stands for "Oh My God What The Fuck Barbeque." It most likely originated on Something Awful (somethingawful.com). It can be interpreted simply as gibberish, or used when one wants to emphasize one's own incoherence, lack of understanding, or to mock others.

It usually has an air of mockery, specifically with regard to teenagers who use a lot of three-letter acronyms.

there is no winner throughout that whole pic. lol @ the drg macros (sorry, I tend to focus on those). the puller is ok except the 'target insight' would bug me a bit. I agree with murph that the whm was going a bit overboard. Thats an odd looking pt. What were the jobs? pld, drg, smn, whm, thf, rdm ?
