Of course, I've been away for a good many months, so I've been out of the loop until just recently. I think I've been away since people kept wondering how you spawn the guy that drops it.

Of course I'll go out and get it, sounds nice to me, but sometimes, people just truly don't know.
I'm not much for posting on other forums, but I do try to keep tabs on things that would be good for my job as they become available on various job forums. I also read every major update to see what new NM drops SE is obviously trying to draw a job's attention to. These are pretty simple things to do.

I'm with Murphie on this, I hate flavor text. Fine in pull macros, OK in the five minute timer JAs, but when you have some banal roleplay macro to spew with every spell every few seconds I want to kill you.

And I just hate CORs who picked the job because its a pirate rather than the fact its really the Gambler class. Corsair is a pirate by technicality and SE's political correctness. I realize people had a huge inane desire for a pirate class back when they were clamoring for Blue Mage as well, I'm well aware SE pandered to that desire. Corsair is still Gambler.

And really, I don't know why they couldn't have just called them Gambler. SE claimed Western gamers were morally opposed to gambling and that's why the name was changed. I guess that's why we have Las Vegas here in the US and casinos in a lot of other states, that Powerball thing too. We hate gambling? No we just hate losing at it.

And is pirate really a grand moral step forward?

SE integrated COR into the the ToA storylines very well and made it less cliche in regards to pirates, in fact, Qultada reeked of Setzer more than anything else, which was appreciated. Still I hate it when people try to skew it to a cliche.

Well, you can't really expect everyone out there to keep the same level of forum vigilance that most of us die-hards do. I've found that most MMO players don't have much of anything to do with forums related to the games they play.

Re: Things you don't want to hear when you're invited to a PT.

I have a bunch of these, all painfully real:

WAR/MNK in the dunes: "I don't want to voke, the mob hits me then"

Go play My Little Pony Online then... please don't ever come back

SMN/BLM lfg when asked to sub WHM: "I was gonna SC with my av and MB"

        Just... no.

WHM, after main tank dies: "What? Oh I was eating, sorry about that."

Suuure, thanks for, you know, just mooching there.

WAR with GSword/Spear/Anything but one or two handed Axe: "I'm skilling it for my (DRK/DRG/PUP/MNK/Whatever)"

News flash: When you level other jobs, weapons level with you!

PUP: "My Puppet can tank that IT"

30 seconds later, that might not be so true...

Anyone: "I have to run to the store, brb in 30 minutes"

Be right back means like, 5-10 minutes. Hope you enjoy lfg down here at camp!

I could do this, again sadly, all day...

Re: Things you don't want to hear when you're invited to a PT.

One my LS collegue had jsut before christmas (lvl 75whm/37blm) was for yhaoter jungle

          "PL Please we give money"

If you didn't already catch that, yes it was a party of gillsellers (the lvl 1 gear and 6 taru black mages sort of gave it away) she attended laughed at them and retorted with "Gill sellers, No thankyou" and reported them to a GM.

          A few I have had

          1. (party in crawlers nest) tell from a lvl 36 war/mnk

"party do you want it, crawlers nest just starting to build"

I thought nice lvl my pld and have a war to bounce hate off if we link, I arrived to find the guy just stood their I ask what about other members? Other members he querries, I retort yes 2 of us will get owned here. After much digging i found out it was his first day playing the game, he had bought his character and the friendly RMT had already spawned him in the exp zone so he can continue levelling. He read about how to ask for a party from the game "getting started guide"

we have already covered the mage sub jobs and not wanting to waste precious mp in support curing. I thought the whole meaning of Party setup was to work together and keep everyone alive. This seems to elude alot of people.

          2. One I hate (and I have the correct gear for my level, couple of RSE items for Mp increase, defense food and mp regen drinks etc etc.

          "Pld <nothanks> Nin yes please"
Pld tank is just as good if not better than a Nin tank, if you require a tank, don't hang around until you get YOUR prefered job, my ls mate who was whm in that party disbanded from it as he preferes a pld he can relax a bit more as I;m less of an MP sponge, especially when fighting mandies who double attack... I.e. 1, 2 shadows gone, start on nins weaker defense.

          3. Yup the most hated partying area, the Dunes, and this is one i have had a few times from unprepared noob whm's.

"do any of you have the spells from 10-15 you can give me"

I agree wholeheartedly, I guess it was worded wrongly. I would say I'm not as annoyed by flavor text that is wittier than your average "This will piss you off" provoke macro

. The only flavor text I have on any of my spells is for when I'm telewhoring, and that is normally just "Teleport-XXXX, Ready!" so I can keep an eye, make sure I hit the right macro.

Oh, so *that's* his name? I coulda swore it said "Setzer Gabbiani" above him when I was watching him kick ass; I just thought he grew a few inches there, and had his ears extended (I was also expecting him to kidnap some Paladin that pretends she's an opera singer in front of her Thief boyfriend, but I didn't see any showboats in Arrapago Reef).

Honestly, Corsair got a really good story to back up the pirate motif; I liked how SE set up the interplay between it and Blue Mage, but it will always remain Gambler in my mind (and people wonder why Corsairs can throw darts... c'mon people, read up on your FF history).

Skylar: Please let me know who that was that gave you those tells; I don't wanna end up dealing with something like that (ounce of prevention/pound of cure, y'know?).

Re: Things you don't want to hear when you're invited to a PT.

I have to agree with the flavor text thing. Hell, the only time I like chat in a macro is:

                -WSes
                -Utsusemi Down
                -Convert

                and I personally use a "Self-Skillchain" /party line on my BLU, asking others not to interrupt with their own SCs. It still happens, but at least I get a "sorry" >.>;

With regards to the PLD comments, I agree about the setup question in that yes he needed a RDM, but the whole Parade Gorget thing was a bit much.

I'm a cook, and those things aren't made that often, sell for a decent chunk (15k or some such when I was making them) and the NM doesn't even drop 100% of the time. So you could end up going through a few days or weeks trying to get the goblin drinks, and it's heavily dependant on the drop. Hell, at that level, you could even run out of money trying to get it if it's your first job at that level. (or if you're just no good at making money >.>; )

A classic I have had recently is being invited to a party and then being given leader as "I'm not good at it" then

                  1) Telling me what other jobs to invite
                  2) going mental when I invite a job they dont agree with

I mean, wtf? Is it that hard to send a tell asking if someone wants to party?

lol, the OP is a big reminder of why I don't put together my own parties. There are other players in this game who have more foresight and can do a far better job at it than me. I'll leave putting together parties up to them.
