  • Installation discs.

Hey all, I quit FFXI a year ago and want to come back but I threw my installation discs out (yeah stupid I know). This being Australia and this being a fairly old game I can not buy another from a retailer. Now I have a friend who has the discs and he has installed it on his computer and to my knowledge has not created an account so if I use them and reactivate my old account will it work? Would I still have CoP and RoZ available? Also I should still have my character right?

    Thanks.

    Re: Installation discs.

You don't need the original disks to install the game as long as you still have a content ID as it has your old codes registered to it. If you remember your login and pass then it shouldn't be a problem.
However if you have lost your content ID code and pw then I'm afraid you will need to buy a new set of disks and register them, if you friend plays the game you wont be able to register his codes.

All international amazon stores have the original and new DVD version of the game, so if you can use amazon then you hould have no trouble getting it. I'm sure many other online stores in aus will have it. Don't buy from ebay unless it is brand new and shrink wrpapped i.e. they don't have access to the codes for the disks, as some people have been selling their version of teh game after having their account banned and whalla the poor sod buying it can not play.

      Re: Installation discs.

Im going to assume that you previously played on a PC too, and that you didnt import (hence your friends version and your previous version being the same).

You should be able to borrow your friends install disks and use them on your PC, Jarre is right that you will need to remember your AAAA0000 username and password, you may also need the original registration code to add a content ID (if I remember correctly, been ages). You used to need to use it for verification whenever you bought a new ID.

If you are reactivating a content ID you shouldnt need the code from your manual, but you will still need the AAAA0000 and password of the original account.

If you had a character attached to the content ID when you removed it, it may well be held for backup, and you can contact POL about this. Characters (I believe) are saved on deactivated content IDs for 3 months, after this you would have to apply to POL to have it restored, or there are yearly events where you can apply to have a character restored.

Any expansions that you had registered to your AAAA0000 user ID will still be active on all future content IDs.

If, and you dont seem to indicate this, you have still been paying the monthly charge for a year (i.e. you still have a content ID active, with a character attached to it) you should be able to use your friends disks, reinstall, login as usual and get back into the game.

Alternatively, you could try eBay for a use copy of the disks reinstall and keep them, or get an eBay new copy, use the disks to install and sell the game back on eBay as you would not have to use the codes to get your character back (as this would just give you a fresh character).

Jarre is right that you cant use your friends codes, you could possibly get in touch with POL directly and give them your address details and try that route, but Im unsure whether they would give you user details.

      Best of luck.

        Re: Installation discs.

Hey thanks for the replies. I remember my AAA0000 username and password and if there was a another username/password needed (isn't there a POL ID and some other one for something?) I know what it would be. So the only thing I won't be able to do is create another character since my manual is also gone

My highest character admittedly was like a 28 THF with various other jobs from 10 - 20, should I just start anew with my friends codes? I would have to apply to get my character back anyway since it's been well over 3 months.

Honestly...i would just get the Vanadiel 2007 pack again becasue you're account might have been canceled. If you've been gone for a year or more then its been deleted. SE will only keep data for 3 months from last day of activity then delete it. But you do have a 1 time reactivation where they can retrive your deleted account. but from what i've experienced they will only retrieve your deleted stuff like 5-6 months out...thats including the 3 months...So honestly you might be SOL and if they can retrieve it theres a good chance you won't have all your items or gil. i once retrieved a account after 6 months of no activity and had no gil only my rare/ex items my rank was back down to rank 1 and i had delvled down 10 lvls so i had to endure 50-60 on my drg once again... and for all you inspiring Drgs that 10 lvl stretch is the hardest. everything after that 60-70 you can cruise right thru

Cool, I guess I'll start from scratch, being such a long break it would probably be best. I didn't have any gil I don't think, I'm pretty sure I gave my whole 300k to a friend. Thanks again.
