Re: should we be paying for raises??
I came off as kind of harshly in my post and wanted to defend a point of mine.
When I claimed that "I've also refused teleportation because someone has refused to pay", I should mention that this only happened once. The "customer" in question had been spamming Lower Jeuno with a Tele-Altep request once every 10-15 seconds for over two minutes. It started at 2k for 3 party members and grew to 7k in no time. I was actually crafting at the time, but he was annoying me, so I offered to do it.
I was invited to his party, ran to him, and /waved at him, then five seconds later got a /tell from the guy saying "go". I told him that if he is going to shout a price, he should pay that price upfront to assure the teleporter that they are not getting ripped off. A minute passed before he sent me another "go" tell, then a /fume motion. I left the party.
He was instantly /shouting again, paying 8k, then two seconds later 10k. I /shouted that he has refused payment and acted rudely, to warn other White Mages in the zone that saw his tasty prices.
I didn't port him simply to (hopefully) teach him a lesson about courtesy. If you say you'll do something for a service, don't leave the servicer feeling like you're scamming them.
