It has been comfirmed that you CAN install the PS2 version on there.

PS3 is a laughing stock at the moment, I can't even say I want one for FFXIII or MGS4... and I love those franchises. If they make an updated version of FFXI graphically, I'd just go to PC or Xbox360 version, I highly doubt SE would ever build an MMORPG from the ground-up around a Playstation console ever again.

There's Tekken 5.1 DR you can download via PS3 network. I really want to play that game. But everyone told me not to bother tho >.> because there's not much other good games out there to justify buying the console.

By the time PS3 gets affordable for most people to have it in their homes I would think that most people would have just settled for this game on another system. It may happen, but why bother.

There's something of a download that you need first, then you partition part of your drive to 10 GB of ps2 hd space. That will be your ffxi's new home.

Well that's how it is done anyways. But you need the patch first.

As for PS3, unless it becomes the dominate console in japan like PS2 was, I doubt we'll see FFXI *specifically* for it. Maybe some expansions if FFXI is still going in 3-4 years, but even that's iffy.

As for the PS3 itself, just like every other console out, it suffers from 'launch lack syndrome'. Basically it's a new tech with new limits and no games to really live up to it's potential. In a few months the good games will start to show up and the PS3 will actually be worth owning. Until then, it's just an overweight harddrive equiped PS2.

Thanks for those links, I had no idea how to set that up. I probably will wait until either my ps2 dies or they make a way to upgrade the graphics if you play on Ps3 to move systems. I don't see a reason right now to change if there are no advantages besides my playing the same game on my Ps3. (no reason to use up HD space)
