LOL, thanks, but I'm sure I'm not the originator of that term. Actually I assumed everyone calls it that.

I have experienced the /pcmd method not working at times as well. It could be that someone beat you already, or sometime people don't realize that they're still PT leader; it won't work in that case. Do make sure that after every tele, that you disband the party, even if the teleportee disbanded on their own.

Dont get me wrong, if someone offered me 10k for a tele I would do it, certainly. What I dont understand is why offer 10K when u know you can get away with 2-3k? Its not like there arent enough teles out there vying for your business.

Even if you do think 50k is pocket change!

I've had problems with /pcmd functions being screwy. My wife and I will often BRD PL each other and sometimes our macros just don't work for adding each other. Dunno what that's about.

As for the spending a large sum on a tele, it's a convenience thing. When you are a person that can make fairly large sums of money, you don't cut as many corners. This is the same reason people will often overbid an item on the AH. If they are affluent enough, they don't care if they are paying 1-5k too much. It's easier not to be bothered with checking the current price or bidding upward in very small increments.

The same can be said for teleporting. I will often start my tele-shouts at 3k (though I usually have my wife available for free). I just don't feel like starting at 1k in the hope that someone is selling them cheap, then trying 1.5k and then trying 2k. If I don't get an invite for 3k in about 30 seconds I go straight to 5k.

It's not really a large sum to me and I rarely need to pay for teles anyway. I want speed and convenience and at worst, I'm putting gil into the pockets of someone who may need it more or may not have as easy of a time making money.



EDIT: Something else to think about for people selling teleports these days. The economy is deflating a lot. The last time I remember general prices being as they are now, Teleports were 500g for crags. Considering how much everything else has deflated and the fact that teleport prices have not, tele-whoring may currently be one of the most lucrative gil/hr schemes out there. Also considering you don't need a high level job to farm or a high level craft, it's very accessible.

I do see where you are coming from...maybe becuase im poor I tend to watch what I spend a lot more closely! Right now I cant think of paying over the odds for a tele, even if I am rich!

Exactly the reason.

Try shouting out 2k-3k for a teleport and usually the responce will time is like 10-20 min. to get back to you. Shout out a 10k+ offer and WHM that weren't planning to be "Telewhores" jump right at it. Get responce(s) usually in 10 - 30 sec.

I also do it just for the pure fun of seeing so many WHMs elbowing and shoving eachother to get me first. For a really fun one I had offered 200k once, and for the fun of it I had intentionally put "must /tell me first, one I like I'd accept invite".

It was fun though got a wide range of responces, some were a bit creepy and others were like the person would whore themselves for a month to me for that money. Yes I was bored that time when I had done it, should of went to sleep since it was like 5:00 AM but decided to do that instead.

Can't remember who I picked though.

Yeah, I know a few tele-taxis that make upwards of 50k in a few hours in Jeuno...

I've seen 100k/hour. Doesn't happen much, though. I've also gone through an entire hour with two or three tele requests, for a measly 10k or so total. That happens a lot more. =/

At three tele for 10k an hour, I'd rather farm giants in Dulkfutt's Tower for gil drops. At least it's more engaging. I won't laugh at 500 Gil offer, but don't expect me to reply, either--LS chat is more interesting than any 500 Gil offer. So is killing three or four giants.

Tip for getting to customers faster: /blist casinos and idiot spammers.

If you have the gil to play casino, you wouldn't be tele-taxi'ing. If you like idiot spammers, you're probably one of them, therefore too busy spamming to see taxi requests anyway.

I've made oodles of money teleporting people. In Aht Urgahn Whitegate prices were crazy for a while, especially during Besieged when all the higher level people are busy beating on the beastmen. Usually I am, too, but on the off chance that I just don't feel like dealing with that madness, I've noticed that prices can get mighty crazy.

I make usually 2-3k per Tele these days, with the occasional 5k and 10k if I'm fast enough. I rarely have competition for the 2-3k ones, but the 5k and 10k ones get nabbed pretty quickly. And I'll do four different Teles per run if it means more revenue, I've brought Yags along with me for the ride so I'd have the MP to pull it off, as I'm only 39 WHM.

As it stands now, I need to level a bit more so I can learn Teleport-Vahzl, which is sitting in my MH, because I've noticed that Vahzl tends to generate higher payments. I noticed a boost when I first learned Altep and Yhoat, so I'm sure I could really make some great gil with Vahzl in hand. I think I've figured out what to spend my time doing for the next few days.
