    Re: New Years Event Guide

Oh yeah, that's right. You just have to check the magicite to get rank 5. You can solo that mission with sneak and invis except for the Beadeaux part, and it only takes one high level friend to knock that out for you. So yeah, really not that hard to get regardless of your level.

I was thinking the same thing. I bet there are furnishings for Bastok and Sandy too, just nobody's figured out how to get them yet. I might mess around with it some later if I have time before dynamis. I'd love to have a couple more of these just for looks.

      Re: New Years Event Guide

My other three LS members and myself are starting the rank 5 mission tonight. We'll do the first two parts in pairs and just sneak and invis through it, and when we have to go to Beau<tab> we'll pary up and hopefully find a higher level player that will help us get the drops we need (we are currently level 40-41 BLM, WHM, NIN, & RNG)

      Thanks for the sig, Selphiie!!

You're just a little mixed up. 3-2 is skippable, 3-3 is the run through Delkfutt's Tower and Rank 4 just has one mission, with a few side quests that are needed for the proper Beadeaux, Davoi, and Castle Oztroja key items.

I tell newbies in my LS to get on mission 3-3 and I'll drag them through to Rank 5. I can usually do it in a few hours, providing that nobody is killing the Beadeaux NMs for kicks.

Oh yea, always mix up the numbers, thinking 5-1 etc should be to get 5, not get to rank 5. But yea, still, one high level friend, or a party of mid levels can do it fairly easily. Usually someone in Bead<tab> farming dodge earring that will help with the two NMs

You could always shell out 500k for a airship pass

Well, since the guy says grandpa says something about stealing, someone try stealing from a buggard with the battledore equipt. Also maybe someone could fly around on airships looking for someone new?

So if you're someone like me who hasn't done missions up to 5 yet, (I'm up to 3-3, THIS MISSION) what you are saying is, that you can still pay 500k for an airship pass, to be able to do this new year's event?

Could you also pay that for an airship ride to Sandy and Windy too, had you the need to travel this way?

500k is rather a lot to pay though, so I wouldn't really want to keep spending that much, and save the gil for other things too.

I'm a bit apprehensive about doing that mission, because it says that an alliance will be needed, and it can be rather a pain trying to grab a lot of members for it. It could be difficult finding players who want to join in, simply because they are always busy doing other ingame things instead.

shelling out the 500k would give you a permanent airship pass, working for all 3 nations airships (exlucing khazam of course =p)

                      Back on topic...

I found out accidently that when trading the New Years gift to the NPC in each town, if you do not select the "item from pocket" (i.e. second option) then you get nothing and you have to get another New years gift from the wood Buggard to trade and select teh 2nd item to get the club.

That sounds really cool, if I know that I can afford that much gil.
So I can pay for a permanent pass even before I've done the appropriate mission. Is that correct?

And I would be able to travel, say for e.g. from Sandy to Windy, (or visa versa) or Bastok to sandy e.t.c.

Do I buy the pass from an npc in Jeuno, or from one in one of the 3 main cities?
                        Where from please?

Well, the airships all run out of Jeuno. Each city has an airship that flies between it and Jeuno multiple times per day. So, if you want to airship from Sandy to Windy, you must ride to Jeuno and then hop on the airship to Windy.

Think of Jeuno as the airship hub.

Don't be scared of 3-3. It only takes an alliance if you are all mid-level. Anyone 60+ (possibly lower, I don't remember) can drag you through Delkfutt's Tower to kill the NM on the 10th floor. He's easy. Hardest part is getting a lowbie past aggro mobs, but sneak/invis takes care of that.

I have dragged level 25s through it.

                            Re: New Years Event Guide

Just FYI on trading items to the Wood Bugard:
(trading stuff I happened to have in inventory)

                            IIRC, in order:

                            54 Ginger Cookies
                            6 Little Worms
                            1 Rain Lily
                            12 Windurstian Tea Leaves
                            2 Beastcoins

I got the "New Year's gift" with the 2nd Beastcoin.

Eh as a 50 RNG I've scaled to the top of Delkfutt's Tower solo and killed every mob along the way including NMs. So not that hard, like someone earlier said you can duo it with level 35s.
