Finally reached level 30 after over a year: What next?
Re: Finally reached level 30 after over a year: What next?
There's tons to do now.
(1) Start your push towards level 75?
(2) Unlock your advanced jobs?
(3) Start your Chains of Promathia missions?
(4) Start pushing towards rank 5 (city mission #10) so you get airship access?
(5) Do your quests to unlock the zones for Treasures of Aht Urhgan so you can unlock Blue Mage, Corsair and Puppetmaster?
(6) Unlock your Ballista license?
This on top of the usual things you can already do like craft, farm, etc.
Re: Finally reached level 30 after over a year: What next?
Which job did you get to 30? Is it the job that you had planned on being the subjob for the one you intend to unlock and pursue? (e.g. you leveled WAR to 30 so that you could sub it when you level PLD.) If that is the case, I'd suggest taking that job up to 37. If you stop leveling that job now, you may have to come back to it in the future. Might as well just take it to 37 now, while you still have the gear.

Re: Finally reached level 30 after over a year: What next?
First question from me would me is: Is PLD the only job you plan to take to 75?
If so, I'd start off by finishing WAR as a subjob. As far as subjobs go, its the primary one you'll be using, though /WHM and /NIN will be handy in other situations such as soloing, TP burn or endgame tanking.... but some of that is still far off, so /WAR is good so long as you're just EXPing.
Mission progress also should be amongst your interests. Nation Rank, CoPs starting at level 30, after 65 there's Zilart Missions and you can start ToA and Assault Missions as early as level 50. Raising fame for various future quests is also something to consider.
Nation Rank 5 is something to shoot for soon, as airship access will get you around more quickly. Getting Outpost warps and raising your own chocobo will also make travel less bothersome.

Why would he need excuse. There's nothing wrong to level slow.

Assuming what his playing pattern is, with an extreme of level 30 over a year, he might find it impossible to do a lot of things that could interest him in the future.

Entry 32: Death to Castro
Obviously, some people don't play as much as others. There's no need to be rude.
Seriously. I've been playing for well over two years and I'm still at 64 with my one and only main job. I don't have as much time to devote to playing as others, what with two kids. And even when I am playing, I don't want to level all the time.
I really hate "level up" snobs. I've been playing the game longer than a lot of people who have multiple 75 jobs, yet I still have a lot of fun. But there's always some 75 jerk who thinks they're better than everyone who doesn't have a 75 job. I hate those assholes, they're the ones who are still rank three at 75, don't have any crafting leveled and still don't know how to farm. >.< And while I was busy not always leveling, I managed to get rank 10 at level 63, finish some Zilart Missions, level a few crafts up somewhat, and unlock every single advanced job, among other things I thoroughly enjoyed doing in game.
There is more to the game than leveling and reaching 75 as quickly as possible.

Only thing that matters in this game is having fun and making friends with other people. I'm 75, but I don't have the elitist attitude that so many others have. I like to have fun playing this game and help my ls and friends out whenever I can ~ not berate a blm in my party that doesn't have the best, most uber gear.
Don't get me wrong. If there's something wrong I see with another blm in my party: such as overnuking or wearing spike earrings..... I'll tell him to change something. But if somebody's wearing int +2 rings instead of int +3 rings, I don't care.
I'm a friendly taru, what can I say.
....and to top if all off, I'm not even in an endgame ls yet. I'm in no hurry to get my head exploded due to ls drama.
Re: Finally reached level 30 after over a year: What next?
I agree that I hate evryone who thinks their better then everyone else *just* because they have 75. The only reason I am actually pushing for 70 and higher is so I can finish Aht Urgan, Zilirt, CoP and Rank missions as well as do quests and other fun things with my friends. I have no intrest in P1mping out my character with 1337 gear, nor meriting(ok, mabye a mew merits) or ever leveling another job to 75, though I'll still mess around on a few up to 50ish mabye.

Really, it's just like pretty much every question about this game that begins with "Why." The answer is "Because."

A subjob is like sex, you shouldn't have it untill your 18 but if you don't have it after 21 everyone laughs at you.

As much as I don't want to sound like an elitist, the above is a very valid point. The game is not designed very well for casual players. Most things in the game beg for lots of time and long term commitment.
While the OP could start on many courses of action, with his signficantly small play time, he may find many things dissatisfying. He could start CoP, but would likely never finish it. He could start many story based portions of the game, but they would lose all continuity when spread over a vast period of time.
There are things a level 30 player can do to open new horizons (unlocking new areas and jobs), but I think by the time such a slow player get high enough to truly participate in all the game has to offer, the games population will likely have lost a lot of its momentum.
In the long run, I think such a slow player may find the game fairly unfulfilling and may even look back on it with negativity. So many people quit before they truly get into the game and then talk about how it was a colossal waste of time with absolutely no story.

I must be a freak or something,; lords knows I'm lax when it comes to getting out there and pushing to lvl my main, but I honestly enjoy getting out there and just messing around. My high job is 32 MNK (after a little less than a year), but I've done lots of other stuff instead of levelling. Now that I've unlocked some of the new jobs, I'm messing with them seeing what fits me best. I'll prolly work on MNK again at some point soon, but now that I can start making some serious money questing, mining, and crafting, I'm in no big hurry. Getting to 75 is an accomplishment...but being able to bank 100k a week at level 32 is nice too. When I do hit 75 I should be able to buy pretty much any piece of gear Id like...which will be nice and I didn't even have to buy gil and ruin the economy to do it.
Also, there's a peep in my ls that has had his WHM to 75 for a year and hasn't really done any endgame stuff yet. He's not ready to start getting nuts playing 30 hours a week like its a second job, he's just in it for the fun. Me and him duo BSTs now more often than anything
I'm a slow motion accident, lost in coffee rings and fingerprints...
