  • Any forms of gambling????

Does SE have any intention of putting any gambling in any updates or expansions? What I am looking at is either chocobo races(either player bread/raised or rentals) similar to horse racing, dice(using the job which currently uses them-I forget if it's cor) for craps, or an arena battle system(as in past ff games). Of all of these, I see the arena battles as the best way of using NPC's. In the battle arenas(1 for each city/town-could be inside of the Ah's) a person would bet a certain amount of Gill(plus a fee for whitegate, juneo, and kazham) on one of the combatant creatures to see if they will survive. This could be in different formats depending on the location(juneo could be a battle royal type set-up; the other cities could be 1 on 1, or 2 on 1). The trick would be that all the stats would not be able to be looked at(so you can't tell if its a level 10 orc fighting a level 50 worm-the only thing that would be known is that an orc was fighting a worm-no other stats would be available. If SE does not have any intention of adding gambling does anyone have a reason for this(other than RMT issues which this will not make them any worse than they already are) Any imput would be welcome.
u have to know when to hold them, know when to fold them

You didn't write that in a way people can understand entirely. Anyway, no there is no in-game gambling, it is usually handled by people in towns using the /random(a 1000 sided dice) command.

The post might not have been all that intelligible, but there has been talk of betting on the chocobo races in SE's past interviews, not to mention it has been alluded to in the chocobo raising CSes when you race against your rival's chocobo.

It hasn't been said whether or not gil or imperial currency will be use, nor has it been said where the races will take place. Most likely I'd assume races would take place on the mainlands while Colosseum events are supposed to eventually open up in Aht'Urghan Whitegate. Its possible bets could be placed on those as well, but nothing has really been said about or hinted in regards to Colosseum just yet.

In any case, I think it's fair to say there will be limits on bets and event times on these particular additions to the game down the road. It wouldn't really surprise me if both are scheduled functions not unlike Ballista or Brenner. Limitations to betting are a given, otherwise people would do nothing but gamble for gil.

There IS gambling in the game.

There's NPCs in Norg and Rabao that let you gamble.

I fail to see the problem with that in an online game. If it was done with NPCs it would be 100% legit and totally the player's fault for losing his shirt if it happened. People already gamble away all their gil to PC run casinos, but with them you run the risk of losing money to a crooked player. And they do a similar type of 'gambling' when they play the AH. People trying to buy low and sell high, only to have the price of the item they bought drop like a rock tied to an anvil(that sorta happened to me once).
