  • They should...

Make a job where after you do certain things you get to turn into a certain type of monster.

Like... 100% TP means you can turn into a monster for like 3 minutes. 200% is 4 minutes and 300% is 5 minutes.

You can turn into mandragoras, pugs, crabs, orcs, sheep, quadavs and goblins and all the other types.

You actually TURN INTO the TYPE of monster and the more you level the more skills and weapon skills you get for each type of monster.

    Would be so cool.

Uh--what kind of weapon would a sheep carry?
I think Blu mage incorporates a lot of your idea, and BLU is
fun ( if you haven't tried it). If players turn into quadavs,
other players might get them confused with the real quadavs that
can kill you. Interesting idea---but not for me.

My blue mage is level 54. Also about gear... you would take your stats and then when you transform other things happen.

Like if you turn into a orc you get things like double attack and lose lots of defence and gain huge amount of strength.

For things like a crab you would lose attack and gain lots of defence. Things like that. Would make things very unique!

          Re: They should...

The job you are talking about is called Morpher, and could easily be added into the game as the coding to turn into monsters is already there. Though I doubt we'd ever be able to turn into real Beastmen, undead or Arcana mobs, as they're each a very special class of creature, turning into normal mobs like crabs and crawlers or even larger things like raptors or bugards is kinda feasible.

In FFTA, the game which actually made the concept into a unique class and not just a character trait, they would equip a weapon called a 'Soul'. Each 'Soul' was based off a different monster and could be used to teach said transformation, with the stronger souls just giving higher dmg ratings. Something similar, in terms of equip and not the learning, could be done in this game where Morphers use a special weapon which adjusts it's stats while transformed. Though I feel an MP/time based change system would work better then a TP based one.

If they did it, it probably would be a very versatile job. If you wanted to tank, you'd turn into a crab or beetle. If you wanted to melee, you'd turn into a tiger or raptor.

Seems pretty neat, but I don't imagine them adding jobs anytime soon.

And if I want to access dungeons hidden under water, I need to turn to frog.

Sounds like someone has been playing WoW too. The druids have shapeshifting abilities in that game.

                      Re: They should...

Like I said, it's called Morpher, and the concept of which has been in the FF since at least VI. Gao was one, though his spriet wouldn't change his abilities were completely based on what monster he decided to turn into. Vincent from VII could also be considered on as he did literally turn into monsters with special attacks. And Tactics Advance was the game that changed the class from a character specific concept to an actual 'job', and worked out very well. And since we know that SE can program things so players can look like monstes, use their attacks and gain different abilities, Morpher can easily be added into this game as something unlike any of the other classes we have now.

As for people who complain in general about new job concepts, why? What does talking about possible new jobs, which regardless of what anyone suggests *will* be added in future updates, do that bothers you? Over the years SE has added 6-7 new jobs (not sure if Smn is a true RoZ job or not) and all but one are more then welcomed additions to a party while being unique compared to the other classes. And in a game that features unpenalized job changing, adding new jobs is a good thing. So why do some people always kick, scream and complain when the concept is discussed?

I would love to see this concept incorporated into the game for one reason, and one reason only. Ballista would rock. Two words: CRAB BATTLE.
