Identifying Gillsellers

I was just wondering, what are the typical signs of gilsellers?

I used to think everyone running round naked was a gilseller until I realised that they are more probably mules.

So how do you tell a gilseller? Someone mentioned keyboard mashed names but again, I can see someone not being bothered to make a name for a mule so just smashing a lot of keys.

Also, when referencing gilsellers/RMT, are they the same thing? I have never camped an NM with loads of noticeable gilsellers round it, botting the NM. Now I dontknow if I have just not noticed them or if I just didnt see the signs.

Could someone enlighten me?

There's no true way to, it's just a big witch hunt. Like my sister was called a gil seller because she was rank 1, didn't have a subjob yet and was exping in the dunes. I mean, last I checked, everyone starts off rank 1 and subjob less. The only way I know to spot a gil seller, is to catch them warp hacking. That's it.

The main witch hunts are:

~Being Chinese
~Speaking Mandarin
~Having a "keyboard mashed name" (If you play a lot fo FPS, people do this)
~Being rank 1
~Not having a subjob
~Not having HQ gear.
~Using Starter RSE gear anytime after level 1
~Party in an alliance
~Not having a linkshell
~Being /anon
~Outclaiming you on a NM
~Not being the best at your job the second you pick it up.
~Not knowing much about FFXI even though you just started.

The solid proof to find RMT/Gil sellers (Same thing really, as RMT = Real Money Trade.)

~Catch them selling gil (impossible)
~Warp hacking/flee tool to catch NMs etc.
~Auto warping to mining points.

Thats all players can go on, SE/STF can see who are RMT/Gil sellers better than we can.

RMT/Gilsellers can be classified as pretty much the same thing yes.

Although there are tons of clues you can look for....here are a few:

1. A person who bazaars an autumnstone for a ridiculous amount such as 4-5mil....

2. A person who shouts for "good sky drops, do you need it?" Such as byakko's haidate....Kirin's Osode...

3. Some of them have LS pearls (kinda rare), but the vast majority of them do not. This could be because they have their own form of communication such as a chat program or they are all in the same facility/location.

4. As for names....it is kind of hard to tell sometimes, there can be a pattern, but sometimes they choose cunning names that can go either way. In my server they had a guy named "Prairieoyster". No one would expect a Gilseller to name their character after a Canadian country music group from the 70's...some of them choose names from iconic symbols, random dictionary terms, pop culture references....

5. The vast majority of them will not talk or respond to you (although the more lively ones will).

6. If you suspect someone to be an RMT, look at which NM they are always hanging around, the drop, and look at the auction house. If all you see is their name, they are either a truly dedicated farmer, or an RMT.

Moshi, missed your post.

For RMT to be able to camp high lvl NM's though, would they need a bunch of 75 chars to do so? I mean I can see the lure in being able to use a blank char, but to bazaar these sky drops/ camp nm's they would need to be the appropriate lvl (some even in a party or alliance)

Do they really bother to lvl jobs to 75 to camp lucrative NM's?

They don't require a full alliance per say, but they do need a good number in order to kill some of the NMs up in Sky. They try to do it with as few bodies as possible, which is why you see them die a lot. Also because the Gods do drop rare/ex gear that they cannot sell, they are fairly well equipped at the higher levels. And yes they need to be fairly high level, at least 70's.

The RMT people will do whatever is necessary to keep on doing what they do. Recently the sad unfortunate trend is that they are trying to camp for the stones that good hard working LSes need to pop certain Gods to reward their members with good treasure....

There's an 18-man RMT alliance on Leviathan. All their names end in "gg" (Robertgg, Marygg, etc). They alliance exp'd all the way to 75. They do Dynamis-SanDoria for currency to sell. I think they are currently up to either 5-3 or 6-4 CoP.

Full groups of players, all anon, all without LS, all sitting ontop of whatever honest to god parties are out exping in the starter zones.

They annoy me, and everyone else Ive spoken to / partied with on Fenrir whenever we see them.
