Friends tried this BC last night, apparently he has closer to 8k hp. They went blm blm brd, but 3 of us are purely going to try this blm blm blm - with my enfeebling magic merits, bind is very viable if we time it well.

How about if LoO dropped a STAFF instead of a club.
Call it a Kraken Staff. Have it be Rare/EX.

There, that solves the problem of dual wielding 2 Kraken clubs.

I remember when people were complaining and asking if the Chocobo raised would be able to ride later on. SE's original response was no. Then "we'll think about it". Then they implemented it and everyone just jizzed in their pants / skirts.

It's possible if enough people bitch about it.

We call it, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease." at work. When enough people bitch about it, they fix it.

          Re: Kraken Club!

I did this last night also.
Getting into the BC was more difficult than the BC itself.
2 of us were trade spamming the burning circle for about 15minutes because there were about oh.... 12 blm and 6 rdm there too waiting to get in to burn the crap out of it.
I will say though that burning is probably the quickest way to do this bc but it is no where near necessary.
I went with rng (me), rng and a rdm/war. It took us 9 minutes to take him down but no one took any direct dmg at all. The rdm got hit with ink jet a few times for no dmg b/c of stoneskin.
Our strategy was first, rdm/war buffs up. stoneskin, phalanx, defender, haste, refresh, blink, aquaviel.
rdm sleepII's Ke'e from the start, then enfeebles it. gravity being the most important and probably all you really need. blind, bind, para, slow etc. then provokes.
the two of us rng began firing away with normal shots while the rdm kites and provokes/gravity on the mob. After the 2nd provoke, both of us let our first sidewinder go... then barrage/sharpshot. our sidewinders were hitting for 600+ each. barrages hit for around 300-400.
the rdm/war kept hate pretty well until about 40% hp. he made sure gravity was on at all times. while we just wailed away on it.

he is very very susceptible to sleep, gravity and bind. i also brought sleep arrows and 90% of them were procing. so sleep bolts/arrows is also another viable way to control him.

im thinking, if we dont have a rdm to gravity him next time, i can bring my loxely bow + sleep arrows to constantly sleep lock him. while others wail away.

we only had time for one run. we got a few oxbloods, philomath stole, a bunch of different color stones and i think a tele-ring. i dont remember.

very easy with gravity on the mob. didnt even have to tank him.

          good luck.

Great info, Omni, thanks a bunch. From what I read in a thread in the BLM section of Allakhazam, though, the drop rate truly is abysmal.

EDIT: Oh, how was your accuracy and damage on it? For a melee DD, is it easy enough to hit that you'd recommend meat over sushi?

Figured the drop rate would be total crap. I'm curious to see how this affects the price. I wonder if it will takea plunge now that everyone can get a crack at it.

Omni, thanks for the strat, I kept reading about blm's manaburning it and was worried as to how effective I'd be.
Couple questions, I'm guessing you went /nin, correct? How was accuracy? Did you feel like an attack build with meat would be doable?
                Thanks again.

well i cant really comment on upclose melee dmg since we didnt melee it that way. rdm was usually out of range at all times so there were a lot of times where his specials didnt get to go off

as for rng acc/dmg: well im sure itll differ btwn players but ill tell you what i went in with. I subbed nin just in case. full rng af, scorp rings+1, rng necklace, elusive earrings :p, ryl kgt. belt+1, nomads mantle, fire staff, selene's bow + demon arrows. i ate squid since that was all i had with me and i also have 4 merits into archery. i dont run parser but if i had to spit out a number id say ~85+% i missed very very few shots. mostly due to me being really far out (~18-23 distance). regular shots were hitting for 90-100. i think meat is doable for sure. rng is pretty potent at 60. he does have an evasion boost move i think. but your rdm can easily take care of that.

ive been hearing the drop rate is horrible too but im sure its similar to LoO since he only pops once a day or so.

If you have gil, you obviously worked your ass off for it (that or you bought them all, in which this case that's pretty weak). But you got something and you end up buying such item anyway (not just this). The problem is, SE is stupid enough to not realize their tradeable items are the things that everyone wants, and their Rare/EXs turns into crap. Just look at Salvage right now...those 12 x items you need, are all tradeable. Give it a couple of months and those items will be expensive.

If you make a profit out of anything, first thing people say is you're smart. That's not being retarded and people shouldn't be so envious to you if you have done so. So if you ask, do I think that people making money out of someone wanting that item is smart? Of course, because even the crafters do so. And every single crafter is smart on taking advantage of anything they can make money out of (wonder why gardening ele ores were so secretive back then?), until it becomes public. Again, everyone's greedy and this is why tradeable items should be turned into crap by SE. But of course, that's already wishful thinking on my part.

And I never judge anyone with their gear. I judge them by how they are and how they play. DRK with Kraken + 2hour isn't a bad combination (even Rukenshin from Seraph did this from their fight with AV I think). So no, I didn't call all Kraken weilders retarded, I just would hate seeing it in the wrong hands and use it like a retard (hence why i said the word retard).

I've just done 4 runs of the BCNM, 1 for me, 3 for others. Got to say, it sucks. It's an easy fight (we went SMN + 2xBLM for 1 run, BRD + 2xBLM for the other 3) but with so many people doing it the prices of everything has dropped so much you make more money NPCing everything.
