You're essentially showing zero respect for the person who is trying to get the mob to pop, at least have the decency to help him clear the mobs if you're going to try and claim it as well especially considering the person concerned was 75 and could kill the trash in one or two hits. I'm half-expecting some Japanese apologist to come along now and say he probably let you clear the mobs because he thought you wanted the xp off them.
Actually I don't see anything wrong with watching as someone kills mobs pointlessly thinking it will affect the rate at which an NM pops. FYI, clearing a room of mobs will NOT make the average lottery NM spawn faster. Lottery NMs have one or two *REAL* Placeholders at best, and the only ways to actually pinpoint them is through wide scan. Those one or two mobs are the ONLY ways to make an NM pop. If you hold that one mob, and kill the others for hours on end, the NM will not pop. If you kill just that one mob and ignore all the others, the NM will pop within it's given window of time. If anything slaughtering the entire room HURTS veteran NM campers as it messes up the WS lists and makes it harder to track the PH. It's why camping lizzy and the emp are such pains as every newb NM hunter and their brother are killing *everything* within range making it hard to track the PH.

No one asked him to kill anything and he never asked the other player if they were camping the NM either. For all we know he messed up *her* camping of the NM by slaughtering everything, as she was there first. He made an assumption and payed for it by losing claim. Oh well, thems the breaks, move on and keep playing. It was more rude of him to spam her with tells after getting the claim then it was of her to get the claim on the mob.

Obviously that's what pissed me off the most. Like I said before, if the jp had done anything to help I'd have been cool with it. Like I also said before, I'm always courteous to other players that are trying to get him to pop, to the point where I've deliberately not gone for him after he'd popped right next to me because I'd seen other people taking out orcs going for him.

I think the thing that got me was that honestly, until now, I've found other players I've encountered friendly and helpful, and I've paid back the kindness I've been shown by being kind to others. But it seems like the general consensus is "get over it, you don't own a NM, etc". Honestly, if that's the way things really are with ffxi, I'm dissapointed. I was probably naive, and I'll admit that...but it's still kinda depressing that a fantasy world can be as big a piece of shit as the real one.

Sorry about it. But there really is no friendly when it comes to NM : /

Being friendly these days for me means I'll help my friends and LS do missions and quests or farm for items. But to strangers at NM camps, no, no, no.
