How many clients are you running? Also if you use windower...uh I'd suggest not to use windower whenever doing updates with POL+FFXI. Might have to restart it, or reinstall and get the update again.
You know.... I got something similar to that yesterday or the day before. (infact it could have been exactly the same thing, but I didn't have mine up long enough to fully check out the writing and stuff. It was just a quick glimpse that I saw a box like that, full of rows of little squares. Rather odd too) It was after I had finished installing the latest update that it had appeared. I haven't been using any windower progarms or anything like that either.
Afterwards, my game was still in good working order though, so no breakdowns or anything.
You said that you removed the last patch, and reinstalled it.
Maybe I should do the same thing too, if I knew EXACTLY how to uninstall and reinstall it again.
Could you help me and tell me how I go about doing this please?
I just revoved some of the files that where updated last in the FFXI folder...
I don't even know what these files look like! I never start tracking files in my FFXl Folder everytime there is an update! I can't just start deleting things just like that! I'd be worried that I'd be deleting the wrong files, and corrupting something in the game if I did!
Please could you tell me EXACTLY what these files look like, and what they end in?
For e.g. .DAT. (those are the files in the ROM folders though, so I don't really know which part of the game they belong to)
Snowball, just open one of the ROM folders and sort the files by Date last Modified. The newest files were updates.
Okay, going by what you said, I have now worked out which files are newer, thus being the ones to delete.
But unfortunately, it's just TOO RIDICULOUS!
There are just TOO MANY newer .dat files in allsorts of different numbered folders, and it will take me TOO LONG to go through each and every folder, trying to delete those which are newer.
They are also spread out all over the place, and mixed in with those which are not new files at all!
I do NOT have time to sit around all day, going all round the houses, (so to speak) trying to delete these files from SUCH a big game! HMPH!
I just wish ther was a quicker way of doing it! *SIGH!*
Instead, I am now going to update my game again, (from the maintenance yesterday) and all I can do is just live with the fact that I've got this weird box thing, (as stated/pictured in the first post) and hope that nothing serious goes wrong with my game! *SIGH!*
