Actually publicly banning gil buyers, making sure to note that these people were banned *just* for buying the gil, should slow down RMT as it would prevent a lot of people from buying from them. Most people who buy gil do it because they think that there's no chance of getting caught. If they start pointing out that people do get caught and then punished for it, many 'on the fence' buyers would decide it's not worth the risk.

It's basic supply and demand. Because the demand to buy gil is there, people will try to fill the supply. Lose the demand and the suppliers will move on. There will never be a 100% RMT free game, but doing this would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Yup, the sad thing is, the number of buyers is far greater then people probably think. For every guy with 0 crafting and 0 income with 200 mill + of gear, there are probably 10 more buyers that are much less obvious.

I think in some ways, I mean this is just my thought..I think if SE made it where you could purchase a certain amount from them Personally that would kill the Rmt...Maybe not all of it but it would put a dent in the Mega bucks they make off of Real Money trade per day...I also think in some ways setting Ah Prices would help, but I dont know for sure if that would make a big enough impact...All of this is Theory on the outcome of trying those ideas out...But we can always wish for a Game free Rmt each day...Ya never know someday it may happen!!!

perhaps opening a bank which gives loans....having a payment dedeucted from your gil every month or somesuch...

So basically, you're wanting SE to beat IGE at its own game by selling gil themselves? Irony'd? Yeah, I think so...

No, the only way I can see SE stopping RMT in the game is to take the fight *out* of the game: SE vs IGE in whatever court of law that holds sway for the ToS set for by the company that owns the game and all the properties therin (i.e. the gil). I'm pretty sure SE could win on the basic principle that IGE and it's employees/contractors (i.e. the gilsellers) broke the contract they signed and agreed upon (and continue to do so, albeit electronically, every time they sign on), and by doing so, demonstrate that they have no intention of ever actually honoring any agreements made between the companies. That might give SE the leverage they need to prevent IGE and it's many subsidaries (and thier employees) from ever comming back to the game, period. Basically, sue the hell outta them.

Of course, many problems arise from this course of events. Aside from it being an extremely complicated and convoluted legal mess, you also have to deal with the fact that international laws kick into effect over what is essentially a contract suit, not to mention burden of proof, pulling up whole databases, data logs, red tape, funds spent, etc. etc. etc.

Come to think of it, isn't this exactly just what the STFU is doing anyways? Minus the whole "Take IGE and thier gilbabies to court" mess, obviously. It just seems they're taking direct action, but it's like tossing water out of a sinking boat with a spoon....

I think that would be a great Idea like a Loan that comes directly from SE itself and is deducted from your Gil...So then it wouldnt be playing the same hand IGE and other Gill Seller Companaies are doing..It would be legit and there would be no wrong morales involved...I think that is a Great Idea!!!

Okay, so we have all been posting our ideas on which ways we think would be best to get rid of RMT, but does SE know about alll this? Do they even care about our ideas in general?

If anyone ever coms up with the best solution all round, and everyone on the forum agrees and says that it's a very good idea, then is it possible tat you could go and contact SE with your idea, showing them evreyone's agreements to back up your idea too? Then SE would put your idea into action, and prevent all RMT from spamming all servers.

They care, honestly they do, otherwise we wouldn't have the STF and these updates :D But, like the others said its legal issues and best way to handle legal issues is not the player base, but SE with the evidence the STF and GMs collected over the years from banning RMT accounts and monitoring the current ones. Over all they're gonna sit and wait for enough to pile up to over whelm the courts and get them all out at once. At least thats what would seem the best idea to go for imho.

Most could work, its just the fact RMT is something that will never be gotten rid of, because for instance, you can convince all buyers to stop buying gil (not possible but still), thus killing off RMT, but, there will ALWAYS..ALWAYS be that ONE person to be an ass and buy gil to keep them around. Thats why RMT would never go away, because there will always be at least ONE PERSON to keep them in business. STF = Special Task Force.
