Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
o.O er are you saying that the bannings were lies and they instead make new gil seller accounts? since when the gil sellers are banned those gil seller are the ones banned not the ones that do not exist. just after they are banned more gil seller accounts are created sometimes by the same people sometimes because the removing of gil increases the companies IGE need to get gil to sell so more gil seller accounts are made because of this. the new gil sellers are not the same as the old ones since they have different names for one things. but yes there seems to be some rise on RMT i keep running into rmt taru blm groups D:

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
I don't know. As I am reading the post, it reminds me a lecture about criminal studies I heard couple years ago...
The lecturer said something like if you throw a local gang leader to jail, in a near future, a new gang leader will show up in that same local area. If you throw that new gang leader to jail, another new gang leader will pops up. They will keep coming (time, eventually) no matter how many ganger leader you thrown to jail. The statement was back up by real life data and statistics.
Another approach is, instead of get rid of them completely, keep them in control...
Well... it was an open lecture, I did not attent that class... and fell asleep over half of the lecture... so I am not entirely sure.
I think what S-E is trying to do is instead of banning all RMT, keep them monitored and under control. If RMT expands, ban, but not ban all.Server: Quetzalcoatl

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
SE appears to be targetting banks and NM camps. The latter being the most difficult Gilseller PCs to generate since they often require expensive gear and a lot of levelling. This is why O-Kote and Jujitsu Gi are so popular. It takes far less firepower to acquire than HNM related items, but we still some HNM camps, too. I think they got a lot of the Sushi/Ink fishermen this last time, too.

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
Eventually people will realize that most sky RMT are doing nothing ban-worthy that can be tracked. Very few of the Ulli campers speed or warp hack, so they will probably continue to be there until an actual RMT transaction gets linked to the ID. Until then, expect them to be up there until they directly violate the ToS in a visible way. Camping an NM 24/7 and not levelling your subjobs are not bannable offenses. Yes, we all know they're RMT. I'm sure the GMs and STF know they are too. Until they can point to a specific transgression on the character's part, they can't do anything to the RMT in the field so to speak. The STF is improving on this, but it's still an uphill fight. There are other, much less visible ways of handling the RMT issue though.
A large percentage of the bans are bank characters which are for the most part characters that most of us will never see. Thus, when they get banned, the public won't notice it. The bans did have an effect on the RMT companies though. A significant portion of their banked gil disappeared and a lot of sites were reported to not have any gil available after the lockdown. Unfortunately 'legit' players took advantage of the gil demand and sold gil to the RMT firms at the inflated demand price. Thus the cycle continues and probably will from here on out.

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
I agree with you that it is a problem that will never be solved completely. SE is doing what they can, and with more effort than they have shown before. I think that part of the reason you notice more RMT now is that it has been brought to your attention. Everyone notices the obvious RMT, but when SE makes an announcement about RMT bannings people tend to look closer and notice more, thus it may appear there are now more RMT, when in reality you are just looking harder for them.FFXIV Balmung Server

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
I've been seeing new ones, actually. There's a whole slew of fishing RMT that turned up in North Sandy lately, and they weren't there before.
I've seen them leveling, also, but that's nothing new I suppose.
Regardless, they will always come back. ; ;sigpic

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
They are definatly banning them. The stuff we Mods have seen if we could show you'd be surprised. Basic is some people mistaking FFXIOnline.com as being the Offical Site created by Square-Enix, when we are not. So we have seen the results of Square-Enix's efforts.
It's just simply like how criminal actions in RL play out. You see horrible drivers that speed, cut you off, and do a whole slew of illegal stuff yet I'm sure people say "Were the hell is the cops when you need them?". It's the same type of battle, but they are definatly trying.

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
Once a set of RMT's get banned, new ones arise to take their place. That's why you think it's "More" than usual, because you're just seeing new names.
Like someone said before in another thread, RMT's are like a roach infestation. Even an atomic bomb won't stop them. :-\

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
A thought has just popped into my head about this, thinking it might be a solution, but then there's also a 100 chance that I will be wrong, and that it wouldn't work anyway.
It's only a thought, but would it be possible for SE to change the names of all the servers, preventing RMT to get in and find them? Or would that only make things a lot worse, and it would be completely out of the question?Last edited by Snowball; 12-13-2006, 08:26 PM.(\ /)

The Official website has a list of servers and their status, they can just get the new names from there IF your thought would ever happen, which it wouldn't.

What if SE removed all the server names from the official site? (I think there are those on alla too, though I'm not sure if SE has control over that site or not) Then if new ones were made, SE wouldn't put their names up.
Would that be of much use at all? Or wouldn't it work either?
P.S. I know it makes it very useful and helpful to know that all the servers are up and running before you log into the game, but personally, I hardly ever use it, and don't see the need. The servers are always up anyway.(\ /)

Re: RMT Banns , What a Joke
hmmm thats a toughie but the best way by far to deal with the problem is to make an example of those who buy the gill as they fule the RMT.If nobody buys theres no reason for RMT's to sell.
Anyway those who buy/cheat dare to call themselves players should beKurbinated
1.)Set somebody up these are usually n00bs so who cares
2.)After they buy it pounce on them and the RMT
3.)TAKE ALL RMT ITEMS&GILL Delete RMT
4.)Make publicly known what the noob did...and his punoshment
5.)Take his money and gear
6.)Take all this money and hold an ls lottery or distribute evenly on all the servers as event prizes
Punishment
Now here is where I shine don't delete him set his drop rate to 0
put his lvl back to lvl 1 & reset all stats
deny him access to all exansion areas and confine him to his starting city
If he get to lvl 10 reset all lvls again
It ain't tanking unless you get hit
To those who are about to tank I salute you.

Beyond all that the people behind RMT companies move fast. They would adjust to any changes before the playerbase did.
Oh and a note on that other board you mentioned. They are owned by the same company that owns IGE, you can come up with your own conclusions for that one.
