When I do finally find this pattern, do I have to trade it to Guttrix in my race week or do I just have to find it within the week?

Also, can I choose what piece I want?

IIRC, you have to trade it during your week, and yes you do choose what piece you get.

If you already have the key, then you can pop the chest easily since you can keep yourself sneak/invised. I also recommend Ordelle's for RSE. It is the easiest of the three areas to find chests.

I don't believe you have to trade in the pattern during your RSE week to get the item. A long time ago, I got 3 patterns during my week. I traded the last in to the NPC after my week was up and still got the item.

So where do the chests pop in Ordelles? I read on FFXIClopedia that Ordelles was tricks as you had to drop of several ledges etc...

And chests in general, can someone explain them to me. Repop times, and scearios.

As far as I knew, chests popped and when opened they respawned elsewhere. But after Gusgen I have to be wondering if I did something wrong!!

Check out FFXI Atlas for spawn locations.

They repop within a few minutes if you popped it for RSE. (half hour if not RSE)

I was helping a friend with RSE in Ordelle's last night. He popped a chest then we started killing the nearby Stropers and Chymes for his next key, I turned around and the chest repopped in exact same place. Funny as hell.

Oh, and the item you get from the chest is a key item, so there is no trading involved, just talk to him.

Always make sure you have the quest active before you open the chest. lol

My wife was getting her RSE in Gusgen. We fought through aggro and opened the doors ect and eventually ended up dying and getting raised. We had someone come out and raise us and finally got the key and found the chest after a while. She opened it up and got a shiny new Frost Shield.
