I was quite frustrated by it and quite confused...i mean what better of a person to be a GM who plays the game but then there oculd have been other reasons as well but i had years of Customer Service Managment under my belt as well.... I mean Blizzard hires people on experience, i know a woman i worked with a year back got a job at blizzard being a GM for the Thunderhorn server and also plays on a different server. I was just turned off by working for SE so i didn't go any further as far as looking into why i didn't get hired.
What are Game Masters (GMs) for?

GMs are customer service professionals in FINAL FANTASY XI that possess a rich knowledge of our games. Their goal is to directly connect players within the game to our services, acting as the first line in our service front. They aim to help you achieve the best gaming environment possible and to help solve any problems that you may have. Only people with passion and an understanding of these goals can become GMs.
    so much for that huh?

    Thanks Yyg!

this was pointed out to us by onionsoldier a while back
Yeah, I see that, but I didn't realize it until just now, thus the nature of that post (I never saw that thread in the first place until you linked it). Thanks tho.

Oh, and that thread is rather interesting. Hopefully something like that never gets to be released, as that would pretty much kill the game.

From what I've heard something like that happened awhile ago, but an update also supposedly made it unpossible to create items using that particular method.

          Hackers suck -.-

I was under the impression that the GMs were hired and operated through another company, and while SE could influence how the GMs worked, you are really dealing with the other company. I could be wrong though, it's just what I've heard.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

That's weird. I thought one of our mod became a GM too and he was a hardcore FFXI player.

Didn't they advertise to the players that they were hiring GM's a little while back?

I don't care how many weeks of trainning they go through, but there's no chance in hell they will understand what they are meant to do unless they have played the game.

I mean, although being an active player could have implications on your job as a GM having played the game must be a requisite even if you have to quit (the game) the moment you become a one.
