Chocobo questions

hey guys,

quick question about chocobos.

I am about to hit level 20 and everyone is talking about getting a chocobo. How does this work? I know I have to go to jueno and it takes a while to raise one...but I dont understand the process. Everything I find online is about taking care of your chocobo but it seems that everything I read is for people who already have one. are there any links i could look at that could possibly tell me about the beginning stages?

I don't know if you're asking how to do the quest to ride a chocobo... or the whole chocobo raising process... So I'll talk about both...

Chocobo Quest
Basically you talk to Brutus in Upper Jeuno (G-7). Brutus has an ill chocobo and asks you to help him take care of it. All that basically entails is checking on the chocobo once a day (ingame day that is) to build up your trust with him and then feeding him some Gausebit Grass once a day by trading it...

Eventually the chocobo is better, he will love you forever and you get a Chocobo License.

Chocobo Raising
Basically you get a chocobo egg - a mithra child sells them in Upper Jeuno or there is a quest you can do. So, you take that egg to a chocobo carer in one of the stables...

And then you check on the egg every day until it hatches to a chick, and then basically set different commands, such as Take for a Walk, and raise the stats of your chocobo. Feed it, make it sleep etc.. It will eventually grow up into an adult that you can summon to ride.


Please be aware that these two processes, general chocobo riding & chocobo raising, are not connected.

what level must you be for the raising of the chocobo and how much does it cost for the egg from the girl?

For Chocobo Raising there is no level limit... That I know of.
And the egg costs roughly 1k. The girl is a mithra near the Ru'lude Gardens Auction House.
